Area Same-Sex [Lesbian] Couple Denied Communion [Missouri]
St. Joseph News-Press ^ | 1/31/14 | Erin Wisdom

Posted on 01/31/2014 6:48:32 PM PST by marshmallow

An area woman was denied Communion at her mother’s funeral last month after a priest new to her parish learned she was in a same-sex relationship.

Carol Parker and her partner of nearly 20 years, Josie Martin, live in the small town of Chula, Mo., and had been attending St. Columban Catholic Church in Chillicothe, Mo., for 12 years when Ms. Parker’s mother passed away on Dec. 26. The obituary listed Ms. Parker as a surviving daughter and also mentioned her partner.

Later that week, Ms. Parker received a call from Father Benjamin Kneib, informing her that she and Ms. Martin would not be allowed to receive Communion at the Dec. 30 funeral.

“It was a shock to hear him say that,” Ms. Parker said. “I never expected that, especially at my mother’s funeral.”

She added that at the funeral, most in attendance chose not to take Communion out of respect for her and Ms. Martin. Despite this show of solidarity, the women no longer feel welcome at the church and have begun visiting another an hour from their home.

“That was our faith community. It really took away a lot of things for us,” Ms. Parker said. “He (Father Kneib) would still like to see us there, but I don’t feel like I’m welcome if I can’t take part in the main focus of the Mass.”

Just like Father Marcel Guarnizo, this young priest’s life is going to be ruined by the hatred of the homosexuals.

Indeed, Fr G and Fr K may well suffer in this life but God will use it to show His Glory. Our job is to pray for them both, which I know you do.

Thank you for the gracious words. I think in my case it was grave matter but not mortal sin.

Any offense against God Himself or the things of God is objectively grave, simply because of "what it is" --- in this case, the Blessed Sacrament, the most Holy Object in the visible Universe. In a way, the Eucharist is the purpose for which the Universe was created in the first place: for a Communion of Love.

However I did not have the consciousness at the time that this was a sin of desecration/sacrilege. I think the Psalmist prays for God to free him from his unknown faults. I believe God looks mercifully on my ignorance.

Hope I hope I hope.

Good thoughts. You've given me something to ponder.

I find the Corinthians thing particularly sobering.

So for 12 years there was apparently no problem with receiving Communion, only after the mom dies then Communion is denied? I wonder how soon it will take the Courts to decided who can or cannot receive Communion? The Courts have decided they are 'gods' and have made perversion a human right.

See why Christ spoke about those that sit in the seat of Moses?

My sister-in-law’s child passed away about a year ago and my daughters went to the funeral. It was a Catholic funeral and my daughter told me about half went up for communion. The ones that were shacking up or never went to church didn’t even attempt to receive communion. They know the rules and this lesbian knows the rules. There was also confession 30 minutes before the funeral. I have no sympathy for anyone living in this sordid lifestyle. It’s against God and it’s a sin, cut and dry. This lesbian is just trying to get noticed and hopes that the media will pick up on her story. Let’s hope that does not happen, because it’s a non-story and she knows it’s a non-story.

There are a lot more educated mis-educated people in the world than years ago.

That, too.

I don't know how their priest would have known they were active homosexual unless they had confessed it. That's why they get "busted" upon publication in the newspaper, or attempted marriage: because these are public acts.

Lots of women live together without being lesbians. Men live together without being sodomites. In my parish, there are a number of both young single women and older widow women who are housemates.

They probably bragged about it. It was probably just a set-up to get their names in the media. The dykes know the rules.

"This lesbian is just trying to get noticed and hopes that the media will pick up on her story"

You could be right, maybe it is that simple.

However, since "faith cometh by hearing" it's possible that she actually doesn't think there's any problem. The world constantly bombards with it's own version of morality.Day in and day out, there's nothing wrong with homosexuality. The real problem is with those who oppose it!The "god of this world" is relentless with his propaganda.Say it often enough and people will believe it and take it to heart because they are not taught (or are unwilling)to hold captive every thought and imagination to Christ.

The real problem is where we turn our spiritual ears, what we hear the most ends up being what we trust the most.

The world is loud...maybe the church is too quiet.

Who knows at this point. I can think of several variables that caused this 'story' to be given a specific bias. First would be the reporter. I cannot imagine an interview with only what was written was all that was learned.

But the sure implication is that nobody, specifically the priest, had a problem with them until the mother died, and then 'we' were persecuted. And it sure is apparent, since a 'press release' was given that the Priest was not hunting publicity until he was publicly asked.

These gals sure make it sound like their 'lesbian' relationship, was common knowledge, given they say they were partners for 20 years. I am guessing 'partners' is something different than merely a financial arrangement.

I have met a lesbian or homosexual, especially if they were raised Catholic, that does not know the Catholic Church’s position on homosexuality. Most homosexuals/lesbians are vehemently anti-Christian and blab on all day long about how only “religious fanatics”, oppose them. And for some strange reason 100% of the ones I have known are pro-abortion, which I find strange considering none of them will be having babies, at least not the way God intended. Most homosexuals/liberals are liberal to the core, and that is why Obama panders to them all the time.

Yep.

The sad part is that many vehemently anti-Christian folks can sit in a church for 20 years and not be convicted by the Spirit of God to the degree that they either acknowledge their wrong or just simply leave.

I knew a couple of pro-life lesbians. They were Christians, too --- Episcopalians. Their thinking was like any prolifes' thinking: that you don't have a right to kill somebody just because you don't want them around.

They also, I think, had had previous bad experiences with men (which nudged them towards lesbianism.) They saw abortion as one more sad, disappointing, and violative thing that comes from sexual relations with men.

Now that I'm thinking about them, I should pray for them. Lisa and Maureen.

What really cracks me up is when I see a 50 year old woman with 6 children, who was married for 30 years, then when all her children are grown, she “comes out” as a lesbian and leaves her husband and starts shacking up with another woman. Same thing with some men who “come out”. And there are still those out there that believe you born homosexual. Absolutely not. It is a choice. A mental disorder.

Yeah. Like Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson with his wife and three kids and his phenomenal "courage" in leaving them and coming out as gay.

Somehow violating your vows and Hasta la Vista to your wife and family counts as "courage", but keeping your vows and fidelity to your family is just cowardice, I take it? Just a buzzkill?

I guess we know now what the phrase "the glamor of evil" means.

I’m just glad that Fr. Kneib’s bishop is not Donna Wuerl.

That depends on who his bishop is and how supportive the bishop is prepared to be. There are a lot of them like Donna Wuerl, unfortunately.

I'll ask around.

Yes, they're trying to self-dramatize and get noticed. What particularly disgusts me is not just the stubborn sin of homosexuality, nor the insistence upon committing the even more grave sin of receiving the Eucharist unworthily; it's the politicizing of her mother's death.

For you who were not on board at the time, precisely this scenario took place two years ago in Maryland, when Father Marcel Guarnizo was the parochial vicar at our local parish. A woman who was publicly a lesbian and a Buddhist, and admitted her lesbian lifestyle to Father Marcel, presented herself for communion at her mother's funeral, despite his advance warning that she should not do so. She was very softly and kindly refused the Eucharist. Her response was to call the Washington Post and embark upon a campaign to destroy that brilliant and godly priest's career. She succeeded: he was stripped of his faculties to perform his priestly duties in the Archidiocese of Washington, lost his job. He was so furiously pursued by vengeful homosexuals that our parish had to be surrounded by cops, the email, website, and phone system was wrecked, classes were suspended, and the Knights of Columbus who are retired or active-duty military and LEOs had to guard every mass. Father Marcel's life was in danger from these lunatic homosexuals. Eventually he had to leave the United States for a long while, since he could not work here or live here in safety. When he has appeared here for speaking engagements, my Marine son has had to provide physical security for him because he continues to be at risk.

It is not possible that any homosexual or lesbian in the US is unaware of this matter. The LGBTs talked and wrote about nothing else for months. They are all familiar with the situation in Maryland, though the events have been distorted in the retelling. So this Missouri lesbian, facing a new priest whose reputation may have preceded him, was testing the waters. She is hoping to create another media firestorm, cash in and become the center of attention using her mother's death as the medium. I have no way to express my revulsion for such cynicism.

Note that if these people were really just hurt by an incomprehensible refusal, they could have handled it quietly. Instead they went to the press. They are not just sexually sinful and as proud of their sin as Lucifer, but vindictive with it. God help them, they are nearly lost. We must pray for their repentance. And of course we must pray ardently for Father Knieb, who is facing the same ruin of his career as Father Marcel experienced.

Sounds like the bishop of Kansas City is at least not a passionate Obama supporter. He advocated use of the Tridentine mass, for one thing. And then there was this, from Wikipedia:

'In the October 24, 2008 issue of the diocesan newspaper, The Catholic Key, Finn wrote: "Our Catholic moral principles teach that a candidate’s promise of economic prosperity is insufficient to justify their constant support of abortion laws, including partial-birth abortion, and infanticide for born-alive infants. Promotion of the Freedom of Choice Act is a pledge to eliminate every single limit on abortions achieved over the last thirty-five years. The real freedom that is ours in Jesus Christ compels us, not to take life, but to defend it."'

Homos believe churches should be the wards of the Government.

Of course they are the first to cry about “Separation of Church and State”, when it suits them.
