Up on top of the bluff, you can see all kinds of river washed gravel; rounded from being tumbled in the ancient San Juan river just to the south.
(Use the 360 view icon about 1/4 mile east of the café)

Nah; as restornu likes to say... "by their fruits", the RESULT of their 'work' should speak for itself!
Anything else would be an 'appeal to authority'.
Cheap digital Nikon camera.
Guaranteed to make a pro artist’s eyes bleed. ;-D
***Frank McCarthys work.***
Excellent artist. I used to have a book of his work published back in the early 1970s. I also had a book of Fred Harmon’s work.
Lost them both in the 1976 Tulsa flood, along with lots of other art books. Bummer.
No, I recognize the irrelevant quite easily.
Nothing wrong with that.
If you have access to a Photoshop® or PaintShopPro® program, you can compensate for most of the big effects.
Centering on the frame is the first step.
Getting back as far as possible will tend to flatten out the image in the camera.
(Punch/pinch can minimize the bulge in the center of the frame)
No flash or off camera flash keeps the glare from bouncing back at you.
Enjoy!
I just STILL can’t find Waldo!!

Is this the Virgin?
A translation should be judged on it’s own merits. Simple.
That picture was taken by a little Binger age 45, who is an Intel Executive and a photography freak. He was here two weeks ago. That is indeed the Virgin River as it flows out of Zion National Park. He came here the weekend before CES opened in Vegas.
That morning he got up at 6:00 am to go to that spot at first light. Nice we are 12 miles east of Zion.
“A translation should be judged on its own merits. Simple.”
But your committee only had one guy who even had even a rudimentary understanding of what he was claiming to do, while we have centuries of Doctors who would regard the merits of this work to be but trash.
Note this. Raymond Franz, former member of the Governing Body, says:
“Fred Franz (Raymond Franz’s uncle, who later became WBTS President), however, was the only one with sufficient knowledge of the Bible languages to attempt translation of this kind. He had studied Greek for two years in the University of Cincinnati but was only self-taught in Hebrew” (Crisis of Conscience, 50).
So you want us to believe that this loser trumps 2,000 years of Christianity, and that anyone who disagrees with him is “mentally diseased,” as they put down in their original “translation” of 1 Tim
If any man teaches other doctrine and does not assent to the healthful words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, nor to the teaching that accords with godly devotion, he is puffed up [with pride], not understanding anything, but being mentally diseased over questionings and debates about words. From these things spring envy, strife, abusive speeches, wicked suspicions. 1 Tim 6:3,4 New World Translation
Note the words “MENTALLY DISEASED”. Here it is in practice:
“An article published in July’s edition of The Watchtower warns followers to stay clear of “false teachers” who are condemned as being “mentally diseased” apostates who should be avoided at all costs. “Suppose that a doctor told you to avoid contact with someone who is infected with a contagious, deadly disease,” the article reads. “You would know what the doctor means, and you would strictly heed his warning. Well, apostates are ‘mentally diseased’, and they seek to infect others with their disloyal teachings.”
Though the latest edition of the NWT has changed the offending phrase to:
“He is obsessed with arguments and debates about words.”
Maybe Franz should have stayed in school so he didn’t make mistakes like that, eh?
Dunno about you, but I’ll rather stick with people who don’t hide their names in order to avoid criticism and accountability for their “translation” choices.
If I had known about the Thunderbird Foundation I would have stopped by for some coffee, but that was before I had internet, or a FReeper.
The only other Utah river I was in was the Colorado back in 1955, Moab.
I dunno, maybe give the translation team for the NWT constructive credit to make up the lack of formal education. It is quite possible they too had a “seer stone” like Joe.
