God sent us the Holy Spirit, but there is no teaching in the bible that says the Holy spirit gives to each one of us the ability to CORRECTLY interpret the scripture. Should be a clue to you that St.Paul, in many places in his writing says “be careful re: so and so, they are not preaching the truth.”

So some are right some are wrong. And you have to ask yourself who the authority is? I would suggest taking a look at Matthew 16: 18-22.

If they Holy Spirit DID give to each one of us the power to understand the NT, then He’s doing a lousy job of it, there are thousands of protestant sects as it is. God is not the author of confusion. Catholics have ONE pope, you have hundreds of thousands. Everyone can’t be right.

So Jesus (i.e. God the son) was lying in Matthew 16: 18-22 when he said “thou art Peter and upon this rock I build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Got it.

One would have to say that on the spectrum, Mormons are quite out in left field. you are the only ones that believe that mortal men can later become gods and have their own universe they control. To say the least, that is “out there” for 100% of Christians, Catholic, Orthodox, or Protestant. NONE of us believe that. I’m sure they mean well, but it’s just so off base and contrary to scripture and oral teaching from the apostles.

They say that they killed Joseph, and they will yet come with their hats under their arms and bend to him; but what good will it do them, unless they repent?

They can come in a certain way and find favor, but will they?

It is a great mystery... but it is not worthy of your derision.

MORMONism teaches the underlings to NEVER question what their leaders have told them.

There are MANY things in MORMONism that clash with each other, and the pew warmers cannot get an answer to reconcile them. Even when questions are passed to the higher ups; they just knock them back downstairs.

The frustrations that individual Mormons feel are then taken out on those trying to help them - think the drowning man that take YOU under!

FREE KITTENS

A pretty little girl named Suzy was standing on the sidewalk in front of her home in Salt Lake City. Next to her was a basket containing a number of tiny creatures; in her hand was a sign announcing FREE KITTENS.

Suddenly a line of big black cars pulled up beside her. Out of the lead car stepped a tall, grinning man.

"Hi there little girl, I'm President Thomas Monson. What do you have in the basket?" he asked.

"Kittens," little Suzy said.

"How old are they?" asked Monson.

Suzy replied, "They're so young, their eyes aren't even open yet."

"And what kind of kittens are they?"

"Mormons," answered Suzy with a smile.

Thompson was delighted. As soon as he returned to his car, he called his PR chief and told him about the little girl and the kittens.

Cameras and audio equipment were quickly set up, then Thompson got out of his limo and walked over to little Suzy.

Although I am Catholic, I don’t believe salvation comes from any church, but through your prayers, the way you live your life, and most of all, through your heart.

Reading the text we can see that Jesus is talking to the GROUP of disciples; and He is answered by the impulsive one SIMON Peter.

After dealing with Peter, He states - to the group - I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."

Catholic teaching limits this to Peter.

Pope John XII (955–964), who gave land to a mistress, murdered several people, and was killed by a man who caught him in bed with his wife.

Pope Boniface VIII (1294–1303), who is lampooned in Dante's Divine Comedy

The Doctrine and Covenants

Section 132

Revelation given through Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Nauvoo, Illinois, recorded 12 July 1843, relating to the new and everlasting covenant, including the eternity of the marriage covenant, and also the plurality of wives (see History of the Church, 5:501–7). Although the revelation was recorded in 1843, it is evident from the historical records that the doctrines and principles involved in this revelation had been known by the Prophet since 1831.

1–6, Exaltation is gained through the new and everlasting covenant; 7–14, The terms and conditions of that covenant are set forth; 15–20, Celestial marriage and a continuation of the family unit enable men to become gods; 21–25, The strait and narrow way leads to eternal lives; 26–27, The law is given relative to blasphemy against the Holy Ghost; 28–39, Promises of eternal increase and exaltation are made to prophets and Saints in all ages; 40–47, Joseph Smith is given the power to bind and seal on earth and in heaven; 48–50, The Lord seals upon him his exaltation; 51–57, Emma Smith is counseled to be faithful and true; 58–66, Laws governing the plurality of wives are set forth.
