"The Gospel tells us nothing: if she said a word or not ... She was quiet, but in her heart - how much she said to the Lord! 'You told me then - that's what we have read - that He will be great. You told me that You would give him the throne of his father David, that he will reign over the house of Jacob forever. And now I see Him there!' The Blessed Mother was human! And perhaps she would have wanted to say, 'lies! I have been cheated!'.

Well that's not very fair to this pope...A long time ago some nut gets up and claims Mary is sinless with no more evidence that Francis has with his statements...You ought to give Francis the benefit of the doubt...
Once or twice is one thing.
This is like a lifestyle for him.
Houston, we have a problem. (Or rather YOU all have a problem)
Personally I think the entire anti-Christian left wants to
“whip Frankie” for everything he believes and says. that was my semi-sarcastic close to my post.
Um,I posted an excerpt and clicked that it was an excerpt. I rarely post a full article/link. I figured you’re all capable of click on the link to get the whole article. Am I wrong about that?
The only thing I should have done was posted that it was a Catholic/SSPX/SV Caucus thread. I don’t normally mind the Protestant input but the discussion is going in too many directions.
Sin never made anyone human. Adam and Eve were created without sin -- did they have to sin to become human? God forbid! Jesus was perfectly human and perfectly divine, yet never sinned. Think about your objection, because it leads to some awful conclusions.
The main issue is that what he is insinuating is that the Immaculate Conception (Mary) isn’t really the Immaculate Conception. The Immaculate Conception doesn’t sin, doesn’t doubt God and doesn’t think about doubting God.
We all know that the Protestants on this board don’t agree with the Dogma of the Immaculate Conception (I’m not even interested in trying to convince them to in this thread), but Catholics are supposed to and the Pope certainly shouldn’t be suggesting anything that would lead others to believe that that dogma just isn’t quite right.
‘Cuz Mary might have thought God was a liar at the foot of the Cross.
Um,wut????
And yes the usual hear no evil, see no evil Catholics will continue to ignore, defend make up excuses, etc etc before they stop and actually think about what Francis just said!
Catholics are Christians. In fact, the first Christians. Where are you getting this idea that Catholics are not Christians? A pamphlet? A wayward preacher?
“Mary was conceived without sin”
Then she had no need for a Savior.
Amen to your suggestions.
Is this your own idea?
Really? But the anti-Christian left seems to love him (Person of the Year both at Time Magazine and the gay rag). Even Obama quotes him. Perhaps that’s an indication that he’s on the wrong track. I really want to believe in this Pope, but he’s not making it easy.
Dear friend, —your disdain for Pope Francis and the post VCII Church is well observed, be it from your postings or comments. Not only is it offensive to practicing catholics, it also feeds anti-catholics in the forum. I hope and pray that you will some day recognize the pain these postings inflict on our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
In this instance, you are dealing with the ultra conservative right catholics.
“My soul magnifies the Lord
And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior;
Because He has regarded the lowliness of His handmaid;
For behold, henceforth all generations shall call me blessed;
Because He who is mighty has done great things for me,
and holy is His name;
And His mercy is from generation to generation
on those who fear Him.
He has shown might with His arm,
He has scattered the proud in the conceit of their heart.
He has put down the mighty from their thrones,
and has exalted the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich He has sent away empty.
He has given help to Israel, his servant, mindful of His mercy
Even as he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his posterity forever.”
Pope Frank is a very imaginative guy.
PERHAPS SHE WOULD HAVE WANTED is a hypothetical used for effect by a public speaker.
If everyone keeps expecting theological treatises out of this man, then they're going to be disappointed when they keep getting sermons using rhetorical devices all designed to make a point.
As a preacher, I hope people distinguish between a variety of types of illustrations attempting to make or explain a point...and the point.
Later through Paul, gentiles were grafted on to the vine. Much later the Roman "church" was created in 325CE Sorry; the first followers of Yah'shua were Messianic Jews.
shalom b'SHEM Yah'shua HaMashiach
by the pagan, Constantine.
It is true that they were Jews. It is true they believed Jesus of Nazareth was the Messiah.
However, they never called themselves "messianic Jews." Others called them "Christians". Throughout the New Testament, Paul referred to them as believers, brothers, etc. Not once did he say "Messianics."
That is a far more recent name. It's a name I have no problem with in terms of a group providing itself a name that also offers an explanation of its positions. There is much about the Messianics that I've run across that is admirable. IMHO, they need to work a bit more on how they explain their Trinitarian views -- because they do appear Trinitarian to me -- but they get there by a circuitous biblical logic that makes the head spin.
I hope and pray that someday you will recognize the pain the Vatican II Church and its hierarchy has inflicted on our Lord and His Mother.
I will continue to defend Traditional, pre-VII Catholic teaching and speak up against any heretical statements regardless of who makes them.
