The literal simplest meaning of "Christmas" = Christ as the "Sent One." The Mormon Church stresses Joseph Smith as key "Sent One":
1862 (July 13) [Quote republished by church in 1925] | Brigham Young: "I have taught for thirty years, and still teach, that he that believeth in his heart and confesseth with his mouth that Jesus is the Christ and that Joseph Smith is his Prophet to this generation, is of God; and he that confesseth not that Jesus has come in the flesh and SENT Joseph Smith with the fulness of the Gospel to this generation, is not of God, but is antichrist. All who confess that Joseph Smith is SENT of God in the latter days, to lay the foundation of his everlasting kingdom no more to be thrown down, and will continue to keep his commandments, are born of God" | Journal of Discourses Vol. 9 |
1994 (June) | Official Lds Church Magazine re: Joseph Smith "shed[ding] his blood in order that the final testament, the reestablishment of the new covenant, might be in full effect.": "As suggested earlier, the life of Joseph Smith was in some degree patterned after that of his Master, Jesus Christ. That pattern holds true even when extended to its tragic conclusion. Like his Master, Joseph Smith also shed his blood in order that the final testament, the reestablishment of the new covenant, might be in full effect ... Thus, to bear witness of Joseph Smith is to bear witness of Jesus Christ, who SENT him, in the same way that a testimony of Christ also implies clearly a testimony of the Eternal Father, who sent Him. On the other hand, to deny Joseph Smith outrightto deny the spiritual impressions which attest to his prophetic assignmentis to deny the Lord, who sent him." | Lds Church Magazine Ensign |

Hey, Teppe, seriously: ANY life where I might attempt to "be worthy" of God's grace WOULD NEVER be "good enough" for me, you, anybody -- and especially God Himself!
That's what grace is, Teppe: Getting what we DON'T DESERVE!
Grace is pure gift.
Imagine giving your 16 year old son for Christmas the most expensive vehicle in the world. Imagine if he kept insisting he would "earn" that gift. That he would somehow, little by little, "pay you back."
All along, you shake your head, knowing how much he makes on his minimum-wage job. And even beyond that, how you gave him that gift based upon your pure love for him.
The gift is simply the evidence of the love. You didn't give him that gift to simply "buy" his loyalty or "buy" anything of him relationally. It was a no-strings-attached gift of love. (I say "no strings attached" -- other than, yeah, there'd be mutual expectations to utilize that car responsibly)
So, yeah, God expects us to be good stewards. And to responsibly take care of His gifts. But we don't earn them; we don't merit them; His gifts are so great they are beyond "worthiness."
And to "wrap" this up...imagine, Teppe, if no matter how many times & how many ways you kept explaining to your son to simply accept the car as a pure gift, he kept insisting that he earn it...how that would eventually offend you as a loving father.
And now you perhaps can better understand how it is that "work-your-way-to celestial heaven" types offend Heavenly Father.
"Ite, missa est" can be translated either as "Go, you are dismissed" (Literally, "Go, the dismissal is [made]"), or "Go, she [not it] is sent".
Exactly.
The "clueless" claimer winds up being "clueless" himself...and winds up shooting his credibility in the foot.
if you don’t answer Joseph smith for EVERY question then you aint a Mormon and aint going to wherever...
no matter you will be dead dunked into Mormonism some time after you die...
Smithamadan ???
Smithwanza ???
“Daily Obsessional”
“I dont give a rats behind what the Mormons chose to worship or do because that is not my faith.”
IOW, you’re a relativist unconcerned with the eternal state of Mormons.
{And here we thought you might be interested in seeking the truth}
You HATER!!
Don’t you have some Christmas shopping to do to stay out of TROUBLE??
—MormonDude(There MJUST be a reason that GOD chose to have JS born around Christmas...)
(Hey I can type on a forum & shop the sales online simultaneously!)
I do care deeply about the overall decline of my church and its inability to find a way to stay true to the original teachings of the Nazarene.
I think your FIRST sentence here is an example of the SECOND.
As Christians we are told to not put up with false teachings.
THAT is what is wrong with today's 'church'. Not just Mormonism - a really BIG 'false teaching', but the myriad little things that are permeating 'Christianity' today.
You MUST start caring about the future of the rodent's posterior region; as it's on it's way to
Quit just 'caring' and start DOING something about it.
Some MORMONs are 'clueless' about their fate...
"Now if any of you will deny the plurality of wives, and continue to do so, I promise that you will be damned;
and I will go still further and say, take this revelation, or any other revelation that the Lord has given,
and deny it in your feelings, and I promise that you will be damned.
Brigham Young - JoD 3:266 (July 14, 1855)
It’s a Good Thing (thanks, Martha) that MORMONs merely have to pass JS’s muster and not BY’s!!!
So then, as a thoroughly informed MORMON; are you fearful in the LEAST of BY's pronouncement on your fate?
Then I assume you are a TR card carrying member of The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints.
Would I be correct?
This assumption was shown to be incorrect a few weeks back in another thread.
You noticed it too, I see.
I tried that once but my eyes got crossed!
