ANCOUVER (CBS Seattle) - Two young girls who were trying to spread holiday cheer were kicked off of a grocery store’s property for singing Christmas carols.

Ayla Bascom and Kaitlyn Manseau chose the WinCo near their home to give shoppers “a warm fuzzy feeling,” KATU reported.

The girls made a sign stating they didn’t want any money and no one went into the store to file a complaint either. Instead, people stopped outside to listen to them sing popular Christmas carols.

I’ll bet if they were wearing burqas and chanting “Death to the West” they’d not have been touched.

Good ending from the Company:

>>WinCo’s corporate attorney, Mike Reed, called them back stating: “Winco has no written policy on that – we do as a company try to remain neutral on some policies.”

Reed told the girls that he didn’t “see any harm in a couple little girls singing” and gave them permission to continue spreading holiday cheer by singing outside of the store.<<

This was probably some minimum-wage libtard who HATES there being a “Christ” in “Christmas.”

Good recovery by Corporate.

“I was like bummed,” Bascom told the station. “We were both depressed that we couldn’t spread any more love and joy and cheer.”

I am like bummed too, as this is another example of the War On Christmas attacking the fabric of our nation. From the schoolhouse to most stores, they are our to stop us from celebrating Christmas.

They went about it wrong.

They should have demanded the right to panhandle customers and block easy access to the entrances. Then they could sing anything they wanted and sue if they got any grief.

I have no problem with this story. WinCo has the right to control who uses their premises, but only so long as it exercises that right in each case. The girls were required to get permission, they received that permission and everything is fine. If WinCo fails to assert its right by requiring permission, then the right is generally deemed waived and any future group can claim a right to use the premises.

It was just one employee - and NOT the policy of the chain store, itself.

It wasn’t WinCo; it was one employee who was in error. Boycott the employee and not the chain ... :-) ...

When I read this story I thought of Mary and Laura Ingalls singing outside of Olsen’s store. Kinda cute and Mr. Olsen would not have minded, and would have liked it even. Mean old Nellie would have hated it and got her Ma to put a stop to it.

Regarding Christmas Carolers at WinCo Foods:

Thanks for giving us the opportunity to respond on behalf of WinCo Foods and its 14,000+ employee owners. As our Spokesperson told the KATU reporter yesterday, the decision to tell these little girls they couldn’t carol on the property was by a clerk that mistakenly thought the activity would violate a company policy.

We have no such policy and this decision was made in error. We apologize to these young ladies and to the mother who accompanied them at the store. They should have been allowed to sing. Indeed, our Spokesperson told the reporter yesterday, before the story aired, that they had been given permission to sing and that they were welcome to do so. We here at WinCo Foods wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

What are we doing about this?

We have immediately made sure that all of our stores understand that this is not a company policy and that this mistake should not be repeated. We have also apologized to the family and once again, do wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

- WinCo Foods,
An Employee Owned Company.

I just wish that there were a WinCo store nearby, so that they could get a piece of my mind that they would really care about.

Flash mobs stealing and doing damage is probably "tolerable."
Christian flash mobs singing Christmas Carols, not so much.

BAH HUMBUG!! anti-Christian perverts!

Dennis Prager, a few years ago, had a radio program that dealt with the value and validity of Generaliations.
Although not mentioned, I would bet that the doofus "management in training" bats for the other team...

Our Winco seems fine — go there every couple days — and no inventory problems at the first of the month. I wonder if your particular Winco has management problems.

the waters should be tested by a couple of old women singing....if its okay for the "little girls" then it'd be okay for the oldsters?...

and if its good enough for the old and the little then the rest of us could be singing too...

Maybe they do. Maybe it is the amount of people who don’t speak English there “shopping”.

I have taken to previewing the online ads for other grocers, something WinCo doesn’t do since WinCo doesn’t really have weekly “sales”, and shop accordingly per sales in a loop. We are on a limited budget and Winco is the furthest away.

If I want to see mismanagement I go to Walmart.
