>>Your definitions are lacking.<<

Than what would you say gets us salvation? Do we earn it in part?

And would you say that those actions earn your salvation?

>> And while we can’t make anyone believe, we CAN be one of the means by which God gives the gift of faith to one who presently doesn’t believe.<<

It is never of our doing. It is God who opens their heart to receive His message. We simply need to be available to give utterance to His words from scripture. Not one of us can convince anyone if God hasn’t opened that person’s heart.

Are you saying that man has to add something to what Christ did to obtain salvation?

well the Bible says so: Colossians 1:24 Now I rejoice in what I am suffering for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ's afflictions, for the sake of his body, which is the church.

LOL I also did a double take when I saw the authors name. Somehow I don’t see the baseball guy writing something like this.

>> well the Bible says so<<

Um, no it doesn’t. Paul is saying that he’s still lacking in his flesh what Christ endured.

http://www.catholic.com/video/jimmy-swaggart-made-me-catholic-dvd-trailer-and-excerpt

Perfect for anyone looking to bring faith alive for family, friends, or co-workers exploring the Catholic faith, Jimmy Swaggart Made Me Catholic shows how a die-hard Protestant came to realize that the Protestant faith which he sought to defend has no real response to the truths espoused by the Catholic Church.

God accepting would be a good thing, right?

Like the rest of James, it is talking about how people who are saved act. Not encouraging works righteousness.

No everyone does not start out “saved”, everyone starts out lost (except those too young or unable in mind/spirit to understand).

We must be “born again”/regenerated by God through repentance and faith in what Christ has done!

No.

I would say what the Gospel says, quite plainly: if you have not received the poor, the widow, the orphan, the hungry, and the imprisoned, you have not received Jesus, who’s the poorest, most disabled person who ever lived. If you do not do these works, your profession of faith is a sham — dead, as James reminds us.

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

That's not what I said. But your own statement is a conflict:

...everyone starts out lost (except those too young or unable in mind/spirit to understand).

Those too young? Isn't that how we all start out?

Yeah actually it does: Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church,

And he it is in the Greek Νῦν χαίρω ἐν τοῖς παθήμασιν ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν, καὶ ἀνταναπληρῶ τὰ ὑστερήματα τῶν θλίψεων τοῦ Χριστοῦ ἐν τῇ σαρκί μου ὑπὲρ τοῦ σώματος αὐτοῦ, ὅ ἐστιν ἡ ἐκκλησία,

You stand corrected again. Feel free to have the last word.

I have offered a free copy of the CD version to izzy after He begged someone else for one. After I did he claimed that he had already seen it and didn’t believe it.

>>Yes, but since that gift is available to everyone, it's a given.<<

Where does it say that It’s given to everyone? Would you say that God gives faith to an atheist?

Romans 12:3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.

Peter was talking to believers there, not to atheists.

>>It's a baseline from which everyone starts.<<

But who is it that it comes from and increases or perfects our faith?

Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

The grace that allows faith is given to everyone. Read Titus 2.

>>Doesn't Jesus say that the demons also believe, and trermble?<<

Let’s look at that verse and stop using that like it’s the same as those who “trust on” and “have faith of” Christ.

James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

That’s rather different than this.

Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

a reflection of someone who is saved

Agreed, they are works of saved people. Moreover, they are specifically and uniquely a part of God's plan. Paul says in Ephesians 2: 10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
