A Scottish Catholic priest who wrote a book about homosexual influence in the clergy has been suspended from ministry, and in response his parishioners boycotted a Mass celebrated by the apostolic administrator of the diocese.
Nearly the entire congregation at St. John Ogilvie parish in Blanton walked out of the church as Bishop Joseph Toal began to celebrate Mass. The parishioners had signed a petition protesting the suspension of Father Matthew Despard. A spokesman for the angry parishioners said: "Because Father tells the truth he is removed from his priestly duties."

Must of hit a nerve.Good for the congregation.
My father was educated in Catholic Schools his whole life. Graduated from Boston College. Typical Irish Catholic from Boston, one of 6 kids. Wanted to become a priest. Actually entered the seminary but quit (good for me) because he said, and I quote, “everyone there was gay.”
My mom’s first cousin who also graduated BC, did become a priest. Yup he’s gay and has had the same “partner” for 20 years.
Anecdotal yes, but true. I’ve never been comfortable around any priest.
Two bad apples cannot condemn the entire Catholic Church or the entire lot of priests.
As I said, straight young men are now flocking to the seminaries.

Christ let them walk away too. No big deal here.

What happened after Vatican II was a rebellion in the Church and what came close to an actual schism. .What the reformers wanted was a Church no unlike that described by Brian Moore, in his short novel Catholics.
With respect, I dont think that the Church has owned up to the extent of the damage caused by homosexual priests, even the ones who have remained faithful.
All 1.8 percent to 2 percent?
Which is the normal rate for the general population?
Given that homosexuality is an activity, I dont think there is much to gain by counting heads. Lot of AC/DC.
