A Scottish Catholic priest who wrote a book about homosexual influence in the clergy has been suspended from ministry, and in response his parishioners boycotted a Mass celebrated by the apostolic administrator of the diocese.
Nearly the entire congregation at St. John Ogilvie parish in Blanton walked out of the church as Bishop Joseph Toal began to celebrate Mass. The parishioners had signed a petition protesting the suspension of Father Matthew Despard. A spokesman for the angry parishioners said: "Because Father tells the truth he is removed from his priestly duties."

he’s a very brave man! God bless him!
Many Catholic Priests are gay. Story at 11...
Any priest, minister or (wo)man of the cloth who can marry and marries a person of the same gender is no Christian. (S)he is going against all the major faiths in the world. God's design of humanity is heterosexuality. Anything else is a choice, a sad one for my thinking.

Priesthood in Crisis is a story of one priests experience in the priesthood and his efforts to live out his vocation honourably despite his awareness of corruption in parts of the Church that he loves. His refusal to tow any line other than god’s line earned him the enmity of many of his fellow priests and members of the hierarchy. Because of this, his priestly life was one of constant stress as he fought to serve his people with faith and the trust. This was often hampered by sinister machinations by those who could not tolerate his integrity. He did not want to write this book but recent revelations about the Church in Scotland meant that he could no longer remain silent. This is his story.
When Bishop Toal, accompanied by Father William Nolan, tried to take mass, Geraldine Penches said she wanted to make a statement, and received a roar of applause from the congregation in a packed church.
Her short statement referred to Father Despard as “a very honest man” and said: “This is more scandal to rock the Catholic Church which has to be hushed up.
“Because Father tells the truth he is removed from his priestly duties. We the people are the church, not the bishops. When people said on Saturday night they wouldn’t return, the Bishop said we’ll close the church. I don’t think Pope Francis would be very pleased with that.”
We are still talking about the lavender Mafia today, because....
They are still acting like mafioso....
Intimidation tactics, getting people to go along with “omerta” (code of silence)
Etc, etc, etc
Seattle just elected a gay mayor who openly attends mass at the Catholic cathedral and who is married to another man. I’m convinced the pastor is also gay because he so looks the part. My moronic Catholic younger sister seems to think that gays are so cute, almost like pets. I almost boycotted her fake Catholic wedding, but attended for the sake of my mother.
I wouldn’t believe everything you read.
I probably would agree with his conclusions, and applaud his bravery, but there may actually be something to the diocese’s actions. If he’s made an unsubstantiated accusation against a particular fellow priest, he has violated canon law. On the other hand, there was a story among the related links about a priest suing him which specifically stated he was not mentioned by name. That doesn’t mean of course his identity wasn’t made obvious.

Oh, this doesn’t look good: Toal is an apostolic administrator after a previous bishop retired before being replaced. The previous bishop had said no disciplinary actions would occur; apparently Despard did NOT name names, so there’s less basis for charging him with maligning a fellow priest. Now, the previous bishop was certainly of retiring age, but usually they let the retiring bishops stay on until a suitable replacement is found. He was retired immediately after stating Despard would NOT be disciplined.
Less than 2%
less than 2% and because of the lame stream media, people like you think it is 95%
Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.
I read his post which reflected his mind.
You may not be aware that Catholic seminaries were cleaned out by Pope Benedict XVI. Teams were sent to each and every seminary.
An applicant now must undergo a two day psychological exam, numerous interviews, have many references that are not family, and the list goes on and on.
I am not just blowing steam here, several mothers on FR have verified this and I have a personal friend that I cook with whose son just entered the seminary.
I am also a member of the Serra Club named after Father Junipero Serra who founded the California missions and other missions in Mexico. We invite, affirm, and hold events for seminarians in my local area.
God bless you, and I pray that you might now repeat these lines again — they are not true.
One more fact that I forgot. The seminaries are now overflowing with straight young men who want to be priests. Our local seminary at Mount Angel has a large attendance.
I was told 15 years ago by a reliable source that the percentage of priests in the diocese of Phoenix who were homosexual was around 60%. There has been a tremendous culling of bad priests in the diocese over those 15 years, but I imagine there are still far more than 2%.
