Lansing, MIA recently discovered DVD found in the attic of the Williams family last night has shed light on the language and accent used by the Son of God while on earth, the Lansing family is reporting this morning.
After close to 2,000 years, the mystery of Jesus dialect and accent was answered after the Williams familys stunning find while watching a DVD of the 1977 television miniseries of Jesus of Nazareth produced by the BBC.
The 2-DVD set, which many in the Williams family believed was lost forever showed Jesus of Nazareth speaking in English, a shocking revelation to many who long believed he spoke Aramaic.
We simply couldnt believe our ears, Jan Williams, 54, reported to EOTT this morning.
I remember, Jesus finally appears in the movie, ready to be baptized by John the Baptist, and John says something like, It is I who needs to be baptized by you, and yet, you come to me. Then Jesus says, Let it be so we must fulfill all righteousness in the most spectacular British accent.
19-year-old Wendy Williams reported that his british accent was not only stirring, but that it also contained the dramatic inflection and timing of a wonderful stage actor.
It was as though you were listening to the renowned British actor Robert Powell.
At press time, biblical scholars from around the globe are investigating reports that Jesus yelled a lot, and that he did not bleed as much as portrayed in The Passion of the Christ.
true, but I was paraphrasing “My Fair Lady”, which was all about the differences in local manners of speech in Great Britain!
Ah, yes ... the blue-eyed, fair-skinned British Jesus.
Good movie though.
Yes, the betrayal scene was so emotional. I was in high school when this came out and it had a very powerful impact on me and my faith at that time.
Olivia captured the Virgin Mary’s purity and love very convincingly. James Farentino was very powerful as Peter. The whole cast and production was very moving.
Of course he did. I’ve known that ever since reading his words in the King James Bible. Jesus spoke wonderful Elizabethan English.
one of my pet peeves when it comes to the nativity and art. wish I could figure out how to post images. Found a pic of an Israeli groom who has a wonderful profile.
LOL when He pops in for dinner He won’t even have to open the door.
The always British accents drove my mother nuts.
Shaw was referencing the class structure in Great Britain. Within blocks, you would find yourself in virtually different countries, as Higgins says. Mexican maids in La have more in common with their anglo-bosses than English servants did with their masters. All reflecte din the ways they talked. of course. The actor Charles Laughton, whom you may recall, had a kind of middle-class accent that was not much different from the way Americans talked. Look on YouTube, at the clip from Ruggles of Red Gap, where in the role of the butler he recites the Gettysburg Address to the wonderment of the rough crowd in the saloon. One of the most wonderful renditions I have ever heard. Lincoln would have thoroughly enjoyed, and smiled that smile that they say transformed the appearance of this very homely man.
We talked about this awhile back on FR.

Jesus built my car
It's a love affair
Mainly Jesus and my hot rod.
oops Mel Stewart I mean.
>>He is best known for playing Henry Jefferson on the popular television series All in the Family
Well it's a proven fact that the folks down south with their southern drawls were immigrants from southern England.......
Agreed 100%. Not only did Powell do a great job but the entire cast read like a who's who of A-list actors of the time. It's my favorite file depiction of the story of Jesus. (not including "The Passion" which was a story of the Passion rather than of Jesus' life). I've seen it dozens of times but every time it comes on TV, (mostly on Christmas and Easter) I still sit down and watch it.
So true. Jesus of Nazareth came out when I was in high school. My friends and I were very moved by it at a time when we really needed to learn and experience Jesus’ story. This really brought the NT to life for us.
That’s a line from the English hymn JERUSALEM.
"Did somebody say "Mattress" to Mr. Lambert?"
Well if anyone could stare at the devil and yeehaw in defiance at him, Jesus could.
No way, Jose. Every movie I’ve ever seen, the guy with the British accent is the BAD guy. I think it’s a union thing.
