I am still confused as to what Pope Francis has done to drive people away from the Church. As far as I can tell, he is the only world leader people talk about who has not lied or murdered. It appears that he is bringing people back to the Church.

Although Jesus did associate with sinners, eating at their houses and so forth, He did so expecting them to change, not that their sins could just go ignored. The Catholic church should take the position that if you’re going to remain pro-abortion, then join another church, not this one.

Undecided as to what I think about the new pope, but it’s worth clicking through to the article to see the very nice pictures of some of the pro-life women and their efforts and some of the moms being helped by them. I’m astonished.

I would have bet my bottom dollar that the Times would NEVER show pro-lifers actually helping women and children, but they do.

I had to leave a comment and thank them.

So thanks for posting this piece.

For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard. 2 He agreed to pay them a denarius for the day and sent them into his vineyard.

3 “About nine in the morning he went out and saw others standing in the marketplace doing nothing. 4 He told them, ‘You also go and work in my vineyard, and I will pay you whatever is right.’ 5 So they went.

“He went out again about noon and about three in the afternoon and did the same thing. 6 About five in the afternoon he went out and found still others standing around. He asked them, ‘Why have you been standing here all day long doing nothing?’

7 “‘Because no one has hired us,’ they answered.

“He said to them, ‘You also go and work in my vineyard.’

8 “When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, ‘Call the workers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last ones hired and going on to the first.’

9 “The workers who were hired about five in the afternoon came and each received a denarius. 10 So when those came who were hired first, they expected to receive more. But each one of them also received a denarius. 11 When they received it, they began to grumble against the landowner. 12 ‘These who were hired last worked only one hour,’ they said, ‘and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the work and the heat of the day.’

13 “But he answered one of them, ‘I am not being unfair to you, friend.Didn’t you agree to work for a denarius? 14 Take your pay and go. I want to give the one who was hired last the same as I gave you.15 Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?’

16 “So the last will be first, and the first will be last.”

“He said he had come to suspect that Francis is a “self-styled revolutionary” who wants to change the church fundamentally.”

Where have I heard that before?

From a recent Gospel -- I think last week sometime.

Luke, chapter 15

10 In just the same way, I tell you, there will be rejoicing among the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

He has endorsed a number of social justice positions, I give him the benefit of the doubt but I think he is being unduly influenced by the left.

I still find it very suspicious that the last Pope resigned, the church is a very traditional institution.

Why should conservative Catholics feel left out?

God has called Pope Francis to be Pope because he is calling Catholics who have fallen away to come back to full faith observance.

Also it would not surprise me if more non-Catholics will look at coming into the Church via RCIA because of the witness to Christ and the Gospel by Pope Francis.

Conservative Catholics should rejoice instead. God Bless Pope Francis.

Matt C. Abbott, a Catholic columnist in Chicago with Renew America, a politically conservative website, said in an interview on Friday, “I wish that he could have chosen some different words, expressed himself in a different way that wouldn’t have been so easily taken out of context.”

“For orthodox and conservative Catholics,” he said, “the last few months have been a roller-coaster ride.” He added in an email, “I’m not a big fan of roller coasters.”
I agree with Matt Abbott. Popes must be very clear. Women who are desperate, those who allow the killing of their own young in the first place, need to hear (especially from the pope), that there are ways their child can be saved. If it's too late for that, they need to hear (again, starting with the pope) that they in particular can be forgiven.

Abortion is the worst evil going on in the world today, and Pope Francis surely knows this. With all the hugging of the downtrodden and/or disabled that he is doing (which is sincere and sends a clear message), maybe someday Our Papa will publicly hold [bless and embrace] an aborted child in his hands as well.
