Last month, after being sure to get his caffeine fix at Starbucks, Southern Baptist leader Richard Land went where few evangelicals had dared to go before: the Provo campus of Brigham Young University, the intellectual heart of Mormonism.
After lecturing on "family, faith, freedom and America," Land attended a BYU football game with LDS leaders and joined them to hear James Taylor sing with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Days later, George O. Wood, the general superintendent of the Assemblies of God, also visited BYU, followed by the Rev. R. Albert Mohler Jr., president of Southern Baptists flagship seminary.
Is there a new détente perhaps more practical than theological between evangelicals and Mormons?
For more than a decade, Mormon and evangelical scholars have discussed their differences and similarities, and even written books together. But leaders of the two faiths appear to have reached a new juncture, with some on both sides seeing benefits in more public engagement.
"At the very least, the two communities, evangelicals and Mormons, have been
each others worst enemies," said Richard Mouw, the former president of Fuller Theological Seminary and a longtime proponent of evangelical-Mormon dialogue. "Theres a significant part of the evangelical movement that is now having healthy and friendly conversations, and its gone from a group of two dozen scholars talking to each other to church leaders meeting each other, going to see each other."

Good question; but the WRONG one:
Since when did TCOJCOLDS ever decide to claim Mormons are Christians?
"Now if any of you will deny the plurality of wives, and continue to do so, I promise that you will be damned;
and I will go still further and say, take this revelation, or any other revelation that the Lord has given,
and deny it in your feelings, and I promise that you will be damned.
Brigham Young - JoD 3:266 (July 14, 1855)
I daresay the MORMONs on FR learn MORE about their chosen religion here than they do in their 'churches'!
Has he got money left?
What does “TCOJCOLDS” stand for?
I was going to post
“In before the multi color, multi font, heavily bolded, heavily linked massive copy and paste posts”
but alas, I was too late.
So posting mormonism’s word is offensive?
No, but incessant spamming, no matter how well intentioned, is annoying.
Don’t read it then.
There are new people on these threads all the time, so the info needs to be repeated. It’s that simple
The Rinos will come up with that.
I disagree...Mormonism is a cult wrapped in lies and misleads many into it’s stronghold of which it’s tenticles drive deep into the soul of person and does not let go easily.
The world is gearing up for the “great deception” God has promised......cozying up with ‘counterfeit’ cults and religions only “rots the apple barrel”.
God designed distinctions for a reason. Christianity is distinct from all others and is centered on the man Jesus Christ......Mormonism centers on works and attaches Christian lingo to their false creeds and beliefs to sell it to the uninformed.
So NO...it’s not good.....Mormonism and Christianity are not compatible.
<....”This is a terrible mistake, unless they are asking the mormons to convert and become Christians.”....>
Agree....and I doubt very much this is about converting Mormons to Christianity. Rather,.....just evidencing the world is being set to believe the great deception that is to come.....Mormons will believe that as will many others wearing a counterfeit cloak of Christianity.
Interesting chart ... and compiled from what the religions each claim. Of course, Christianity is based upon what JESUS claimed and reinforced with His resurrection. Mo hamhead is still dead, and Joe Smith remains in his grave ...
1. I'm pretty sure you don't have any say in what I read.
2. I didn't post to you.
3. If you and your crowd think you're going to save souls by cornering people on a web site and bludgeoning them with spam go right ahead. I have every right to think it clutters up Free Republic with junk no one reads and turns people off.
Indeed...we serve a Risen Savior...and the only one! :)
I don’t care what you read.
I stated my position that there are new people all the time and the information is necessary, you are the one complaining about it.
As a side note people do not save souls.
