I would love to set down and have a long talk with her.

~~~~~~
Isa 6:1 - In the year that King Uzziah died I then saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and His train filled the temple.
2 - Above it stood the seraphs; each one had six wings; with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew.
3 - And one cried to another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is Jehovah of Hosts; the whole earth full of His glory.
4 - And the doorposts moved at the voice of the one who cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
5 - Then I said, Woe is me! For I am undone; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, Jehovah of Hosts.
6 - Then one of the seraphs flew to me, having a live coal in his hand, snatched with tongs from the altar.
7 - And he laid it on my mouth and said, Lo, this has touched your lips; and your iniquity is taken away, and your sin purged.
8 - And I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then I said, Here am I; send me!
Expect to see a lot more of that under Obamacare, with way fewer revivals.
If you've not read it before, here's the story that got to me and puts some cracks in the stonework around my heart:
Even hardcore atheist college professors get a second chance.
I was never much of a religious man, and still am not but I am a believer, and nothing will ever change that.. EVER!
Religion is not important. Having a RELATIONSHIP with Jesus is!
I am not buying this woman's story because she has a history of mental problems or disorders. Now, take a qualified physician or rationalist, scientist. If hey tell the same story then...I'm in.
People believe because they want to, not because of the level of proof.
That topic is addressed in Scripture, by Jesus in this account.
Luke 16:19-31 “There was a rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. And at his gate was laid a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, who desired to be fed with what fell from the rich man's table. Moreover, even the dogs came and licked his sores. The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried, and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side.
And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.’ But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish. And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.’ And he said, ‘Then I beg you, father, to send him to my father's house— for I have five brothers—so that he may warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment.’
But Abraham said, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.’ And he said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ He said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead.’
No amount of miracles will convince someone if they are not willing to believe. There were plenty of people in Jesus' day who saw Him heal people and raise others from the dead and they still didn't believe.
So, tell me, if someone who you consider *reputable* testifies this is the truth, will you become a believer?
There is the kid that died and came back, basis of the book, which also confirms scripture, “Heaven is for Real”.
And the rational scientist is telling us the truth about global warming? A qualified physician knows everything? A rationalist knows the truth?
Truth is not that easy. It costs a lot to get to the truth of a matter.
It must be frustrating to put that much work into destroying a soul and then lose because God puts 9 minutes into saving her.
So she was allowed to suffer as an innocent child for 10 years........Doesn't sound fair to me.
Thanks for the ping. There are many reports of near-death experiences. Some of the most interesting are by children.
It is not enough just to believe, there needs to be some kind of proof. This is an ancient argument.
There is perhaps work we would like to do in service to the Lord, before departing.
True, and that is a good thing. There are things I strive for, and want to do, but if God comes for me before I finish typing this post, then I will sing praises in heaven and thank Him for his plan.
Forgive me if my reply sounded critical. I don't like critical people for criticism sake. I based my reply on what you said: Although I believe in God, I have a few things that need doing here before I leave.
It is just that we are not ones to say to God "not yet." The Bible makes that very clear. That is up to Him.
I myself have to be reminded by things in my life that this journey is not by my design. Believe me, if I was the real scriptwriter of this movie called "The Life of SkyPilot" - then I would have chosen that some chapters would not have been written, and I would have composed others quite differently.
I was contemplating the Lord's prayer, where Jesus taught us how to pray. Matthew 6:10 says: "Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven."
His will, not mine. I must confess that many, many times, I prayed for my will to be done, not His. That was foolish of me, but gently, He told me so, and comforted me.
"He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus."Revelation 22:20
As a child I was very ill. One particular night I was especially bad, and I remember seeing a brilliant light- but instead of feeling peace and joy it frightened me.
My mother told me I cried out ‘It’s too big!’ ‘The light’s too big’.
I’ve come to believe that the light I saw was what NDE people see, but why did it frighten me?
I was an innocent child. I couldn’t have been headed for purgatory.
Doctors at a local hospital had so many patients who recovered from resus that recalled a similar experience - that of leaving their body and rising up and looking down upon the medical scene - to try to answer their curiosity, on top of the one of the cabinets the staff painted a message that would be visible only from above. They asked the patients afterwards if any recalled seeing the message while they were aloft (if you pardon the expression) - but none did. Not that that proves anything, just sayin’.
My grandmother, born in 1890, didn’t finish the 8th grade. She knew nothing about what others claimed. She calmly explained what she had “seen”, just before daylight that morning. She named the family members who had died before her that she saw...and didn’t see. She spoke of a bright light, beautiful music, and the sweetest smelling flowers she’d ever seen.....and more.
It was sometime later that “life after death” experiences were spoken about. I believe what she had was a near death experience.
She had been everything but peaceful before that morning. She wasn’t cooperative with us or the hospital staff and seemed mad at the world. Something changed her. I believe she thought she saw into Heaven and it made a difference in how she spent her last three months.
