Does the afterlife theology of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS or Mormon) leave any room for a Mormon belief in ghosts?
The LDS church believes that everyone has a spirit (sometimes called a "soul" in other theologies,) which is believed to continue living independently of the body after its death.
Since a ghost is defined as "a disembodied soul" (Merriam-Webster's Dictionary,) Mormons technically do believe in ghosts. That is, they believe that everyone has a spirit that continues living even without a physical living body.

Though it is not doctrinal, non-canonical sources suggest that the spirit world is on this earth but not visible to human eyes most of the time. Early Mormon leaders Joseph Smith and Brigham Young said that the spirits of the righteous departed "are not far from us,"...

Your are magically un-bunchable, huh?
Read Harry Turtledove's book THE CASE OF THE TOXIC SPELL DUMP. In it, CIA agents really are spooks, and demonstrations are conducted by demons. I enjoyed it.
Thanks! I will look that one up!
The "silent generation" fought multiple wars on multiple fronts.
Why does pointing out the aforementioned problems, contradictions, doctrine, teachings, etc. of mormonism bother you guys so much? I don’t see anyone claiming that the average, run of the mill mormon is anything but a nice person...yet, some here appear to have reading comprehension problems, big ones.
Afterall, it’s not like they (mormons) claim that Christianity is an abomination or that the Christian preachers and pastors serve lucifer or anything? Or do they? Why yes they do. So the posting of their teachings and doctrine for scrutiny is called for.
In addition, to the above, it’s apparent that attempts to deflect the discussion abound by directing the attacks to the poster of the thread, no rebuttal of the information is forthcoming, typical Alinsky (progressive scum) tactic.
Btw, not that it probably matters to folks who insist on attacking the messenger, but the message(s) posted by Colofornian and likeminded Christians here on FR have been received by folks, whether it’s liked or not.
Never.
For those of you who have suggestions about better topics for threads - GO START ONE - no one is stopping you (unlike what you're trying to do to Colofornian).
What’s the reason?
I do believe in the principles of Amendment 1, for the record.
I'm not sure that I understand your question. Let me take a stab at a couple of different ideas. The thread is in the Religion Forum because it deals with a religion topic. The reason for the topic is that it is a discussion of Mormon doctrine and practice which is common fare in religious discussions. If you're not interested in talking about the topic, you're free to go somewhere else and let those who are interested, talk about it.
To what part of the 1st Amendment are you referring? Why is it pertinent? You aren't setting its parts in opposition, are you? Claiming to protect "free exercise of religion" by impinging on others "freedom of speech" would be doing exactly that. Once again, I'm not quite sure what you mean by this statement.
“Nobody gives a crap about Mormon ghosts.
You say that now, but when they come around on Halloween wearing magical ghosty-pants you’ll sing a different tune.”
Humblegunner, I crash every costume party come Halloween, have done so for 25 years now. I have had countless trick or treat-ers come to the door. I have seen every costume you can think of and then some. I HAVE NEVER seen an adult or kid dressed in Mormon underwear on Halloween. Madonna underwear yes, but not/never Mormon!!!!
:)
But it would be a good costume, yes?
In most climates it's cold Oct. 31...coats cover that underwear -- not to mention other wardrobe wear.
If you're out crashing parties, how are you answering your door?

It appears the weather has hijacked the Mormon spirit world thread.
It's all integrated...per the Mormon worldview, that is...you see, if you've actually paid attention to any of their leaders' quotes early in this thread...you'd see that they conclude that the "spirit world" is actually on this earth...
(I guess that'd make such spirits experiencing the same climatic details we go thru)
I’m leaving cookies and milk out for the Mormon ghosts.
Parties right up to halloween. At churches and other groups.
Dude it’s Halloween, you are suppose to leave Jack ‘lanterns for Mormons Ghosts. Cookies and milk is for Santa Claus!
