This is very heartbreaking for me since God used Dr. Stanley's ministry greatly in my life in the early 90s. After I was grounded in the faith thru his teaching ministry, I then suffered severe health issues and did not keep up with In Touch as I had in the early days.

Many are falling away into this spiritual deception...formerly great men of God falling for this ecumenicism...Zacharias, Billy Graham...James Roberson. Now Stanley.

Very sad and lonely days indeed if even the elect are deceived just as Jesus said they would be in the last days. All the more reason for us to stand firm and pray for these men of God to be drawn back to their first love...Christ.

I also have found great value in Dr. Stanley's ministry. My advice to you is to judge for yourself.

At this time I do not know if Lighthouse Trails is right or wrong about In Touch magazine. But I do know that I will decide for myself. I will not let Lighthouse Trails decide for me, or even influence me.

thank you. You just made the link that I had forgotten from Philosophy class 45 years ago of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin and “cosmic Christ/christ consciousness” 15 years ago, I use to be in a chat room where there was much talk of “Christ consciousness” but folks there who used it didn’t know the origin, and I didn’t track it down. But I knew there was something at odds with basic Christianity in it. I was neither impressed by Chardin or the ‘moral relativism’ that was becoming popular in the late 1960s.

I have not read McLaren, but all you need to know you can get from the cover of his books - an up-close picture of . . . McLaren. A liberal egomaniacal creep . . . the cover screams “Look at ME!!!”

I know a guy who writes for In Touch, actually it is more like I know who he is and he knows who I am, but I do know he is a very liberal person. He attended a pretty conservative church but I think that is because his parents are there.

I guess there are some things you can write about without letting your liberal bias show through. Otherwise I don’s see how he got a job there.

Jesus said, "And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened" (Matthew 24:22)

Except here means..... unless... otherwise...

Same chapter of Mathew Jesus Christ Yeshua Messiah says

24. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

Jesus didn't say that the elect will be deceived, he said " IF it were possible "

There is the key word..... IF......
As in, could have, could have been.
The thing is ? Since Our Lord and Savior said it, that he him self will take the providence, the provision to protect his elect, his sheep.
I don't know about you ? but ? I get the sense of not being in a church, or follow any ministry or personality with a close following.
I do believe that God is calling his sheep out of the Whore of Babylon, or the false church.
Yes, I do listen to some sermons on TV but I don't follow or trust anyone with my soul.
Trust a dog more than a human.
Humans are not to be trusted.

Same here. I'm not a fan of his son though. It's heart breaking to see this happen.

Ravi Zacharias falling for this stuff? Where is the proof?

I’ve listened on and off to Stanley. He’s okay, but I never really thought he was all that outstanding. I prefer Zacharias and David Jeremiah, and Lutzer. I forget Lutzer’s first name, as I don’t get to hear him much, but he is good when I do hear his messages. I prefer to study my Inductive Study bible, which has no commentary by anybody, but helps you to discover the message of the text by studying the key words, and elements in the passage. You read this person’s Bible commentary or another and they all have differing views. It’s very confusing.

Reminds me of one interpretation of Matt 13:32 re: the parable of the mustard seed and the birds of the air which come and lodge there. Some may be angels, and some interpret some may be fallen who come to lodge there.

Like the tares, they will be sorted out at the harvest.

When the music program at Stanley’s church went insipid contemporary and theater-type razzle-dazzle, I knew everything else would slide downhill and the doctrine would suffer. (It always does; it starts with the music and then modernism creeps in from there.) That’s when he lost me.

My nephew goes to Stanley’s son’s church in Atlanta and they hosted Michelle Obama as an honored guest there a few years back. I know that what the kid does isn’t necessarily what the father believes, but it does reflect badly in general.

I learned sometime ago, not to trust any man standing behind a pulpit, or any book written by man...Trust God’s Word, for the wisdom of man is foolishness.

2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
1Co 2:5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
1Co 3:19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
1Co 1:19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
