Mary 'can only bring us to God,' expert says as entrustment nears

Vatican City, Oct 11, 2013 / 07:25 am (CNA/EWTN News).- Anticipating Pope Francis' entrustment of the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on Oct. 13, a specialist in Marian apparitions reflected on how the Blessed Mother serves to bring people to Jesus.

“It is necessary to have recourse to the Virgin because she can only bring you to God. That's her whole mission. She has nothing of self in it at all. She lives only for God and to bring you to God,” said Marian expert Tim Tindal-Robertson during an Oct. 10 interview with CNA.

Tindal-Robertson is currently the national president in England of the World Apostolate of Fatima, an international association of the faithful which was erected by the Pontifical Council for the Laity in 2010.

Speaking of the significance of Pope Francis’ decision to entrust the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Tindal-Robertson said that “the Pope has judged that in the year of faith this is a very appropriate moment” to focus on Mary’s presence in the Church.

Mary never saw herself like this, never thought her role was this. I have respect and admiration for the real, biblical Mary.

Amen. The biblical Mary, the devoted WIFE of Joseph IN ALL RESPECTS, bearing him several children after Jesus (the "brothers" of Jesus referred to in Scripture).

Does your pastor quote from Scripture in your services as he’s giving praise and glory to God? If he injects his own words into it, isn’t he “adding to” Scripture?

“One of “Reformed” Christianity’s many ills: setting the Incarnate God against His Mother.”

Yeah, because we wouldn’t want anyone to think that Mary is in any way inferior to her God.

Did you not read what I asked you to substantiate? Here is your statement regarding the prayer “Hail Mary, Full of Grace, The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of death.

You said “It's a quotation of Scripture in a prayer, not an attempt to rewrite Scripture.”

Now, show where that prayer is a “quotation of scripture”.

Why, it's right here!

Yeah, because we wouldn’t want anyone to think that Mary is in any way inferior to her God.

She is, and the Catholic Church is the first to acknowledge it. In the first paragraph of Pope Blessed Pius IX's solemn declaration of the doctrine of the Immaculate Conception

From the very beginning, and before time began, the eternal Father chose and prepared for his only-begotten Son a Mother in whom the Son of God would become incarnate and from whom, in the blessed fullness of time, he would be born into this world. Above all creatures did God so love her that truly in her was the Father well pleased with singular delight.

Luke 1. Ever read it?

I have a question to ask you: when a Pope or member of Magisterium speaks about something as “infallible”, does that mean they are similar to OT prophets, where what they received from God was infallible?

My pastor makes it quite clear what part of his sermon is scripture and which is his own exposition of it.

>> Luke 1. Ever read it?<<

Yeah, I figured you would try that. Here is Luke 1:28.

Luke 1:28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

Here is what you said was a “quote from scripture”.

“Hail Mary, Full of Grace, The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of death.

See the words in red? There not in the passage from Luke! Ever read it? So are you now admitting that your claim of “it’s a quote” was in error or just plain deceit or what? Or perhaps you forgot to list the passage those words in red are found as “a quote” in scripture? I'm trying to work with you here. You're starting to look bad with that "it's quote" statement.

“In the first paragraph of Pope Blessed Pius IX’s solemn declaration of the doctrine of the Immaculate Conception”

I got a better one for you:

And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.
(Luk 11:27-28)

To: Mean Maryjean

At first I thought that the writer was saying it was only through Mary but what he was saying is that the only thing you learn from Mary is how to meet her Son. I am not a Catholic, but a Calvinist leaning Baptist. If someone finds Christ through Mary, same as we do reading Paul and John and Isaiah, who are we to judge. Even Paul said that about the fake people preaching the Gospel. It is only the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit who should be glorified and worshiped. Period.

Elijah went to heaven. Moses is there and visited Jesus. Whether Mary is there or not I don’t know and the only part of the Bible I wonder about is Revelation, where it talks about her. I tend to take things literally, but I don’t spend a lot of time thinking about Mary, although it wouldn’t hurt.

Yeah, scripture says whatever you want it to say to suit your views. I'll stick with the tradition of the first christians. They knew Jesus and Paul and celebrated their liturgy on Sunday - the Lord's Day.

Where, in the Book of Revelation, does it talk about Mary?

You're starting to look bad with that "it's quote" statement.

This is the Religion Forum. What's the first rule of the Religion Forum? "Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal."

Now, I already got to the issue in post #82 above. But it was as if I didn't say that in your rush to make an illegitimate attempt at "gotcha."

The reality of the matter is, "Reformed" pastors do the same thing with Scripture in their prayer and worship.

Why is that necessary?

If it is true that all religious knowledge must be in Scripture, then Scripture must teach that proposition.

Where is that taught in Scripture?

If you can’t find it in Scripture, then it is a non-Scriptural doctrine.

Luke1:28 And the angel being come in, said unto her : Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee : blessed art thou among women.
Luke1:29 Who having heard, was troubled at his saying, and thought with herself what manner of salutation this should be.
Luke1:30 And the angel said to her : Fear not, Mary, for thou hast found grace with God.
Luke1:31 Behold thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and shalt bring forth a son ; and thou shalt call his name Jesus.
Luke1:32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the most High ; and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of David his father ; and he shall reign in the house of Jacob for ever.
Luke1:33 And of his kingdom there shall be no end.
Luke1:34 And Mary said to the angel : How shall this be done, because I know not man ?
Luke1:35 And the angel answering, said to her : The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the most High shall overshadow thee. And therefore also the Holy which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
Luke1:36 And behold thy cousin Elizabeth, she also hath conceived a son in her old age ; and this is the sixth month with her that is called barren :
Luke1:37 Because no word shall be impossible with God.
Luke1:38 And Mary said : Behold the handmaid of the Lord ; be it done to me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.
Luke1:39 And Mary rising up in those days, went into the hill country with haste into a city of Juda.
Luke1:40 And she entered into the house of Zachary, and saluted Elizabeth.
Luke1:41 And it came to pass, that when Elizabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the infant leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost :
Luke1:42 And she cried out with a loud voice, and said : Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.
Luke1:43 And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me ?

Luke1:28 And the angel being come in, said unto her : Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee : blessed art thou among women.

Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee

Luke1:31 Behold thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and shalt bring forth a son ; and thou shalt call his name Jesus.
Luke1:42 And she cried out with a loud voice, and said : Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.

Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus

Luke1:43 And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me ?

Holy Mary Mother of God

The balance is based on portions of the Holy Word of God the Self and Self Alone crowd have thrown into the garbage because they obey anti-Christ, anti-Christian Pharisees who accept not one word of the New Testament rather than Christ.
