Many in the Christian church today have, at best, a rudimentary understanding of what Jesus was talking about when he said "You must be born again." False teachers are often quick to invent their own concept of "born again" apart from sound biblical information, so be careful to compare what they teach to the Word of God. A good grasp of the biblical teaching on this subject is important to the understanding of how God saves people and transforms their lives the very essence of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Well, I did run out on Him after that spiritual victory He gave me and collapsed at home.
But He is very merciful and has given me plenty of time to rest and heal. The Great Healer is a wonderful name for Him!
And, sometimes, if one is not running around going busy work one feels as if they are not doing anything. Fortunately, I never feel that way. :)
So an unbeliever does have the faculties to discern spiritual things, as opposed to soulish and physical things?
1Cor2 seems to indicate otherwise as does my experience with believers and unbelievers.
The concept of a man having a dead soul (no Life in the spirit within his soul) yet still walking around was hard for the disciples to grasp also, so you’re in good company, FRiend/brother in Christ.
Slow down a bit if we use the wonderful resource that metmom showed me/us when we look at that verse we see is as "...and beggardly principles? To which again (palin) anew (anothen) to be in bondage you desire.
I have no problem with "anew" as a definition of "anothen." I have a huge problem with those people that keep insisting that "again" is not just the primary definition, it is the only definition.
As I have insisted right along; there is perfectly good word for "again" and that is Palin/Palon.
Your definitions keep changing.
I understand the death to be a state of existence involving separation, not nonexistence.
The soulish existence, being separate from the human spirit, is still able to reason, perceive rationally, but lacks the ability to perceive spiritual phenomena other than how it might effect the soul or physical domain.
The soul in a state of unrighteousness, not being in the right state with God’s Plan, has a strong desire to return to righteousness, but lacks the ability because it lacks the human spirit.
The soul since the Fall in the Garden, now in possession of knowledge from the tree of good and evil. The soul will easily seek good and evil as counterfeit substitutes for His Holiness, which is comprised of His Righteousness and Justice.
Academically, the soul will even study Scripture attempting to become righteous by being legalistic, but still without faith alone in Christ alone, is simply exercising academic rationalism instead of faith through Christ.
Amplified Bible:
3 Jesus answered him, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, that unless a person is born again (anew, from above), he cannot ever see (know, be acquainted with, and experience) the kingdom of God.
7 Marvel not [do not be surprised, astonished] at My telling you, You must all be born anew (from above).
Sometimes The Amplified Bible can be very helpful. I believe that when one reads the entire passage as a whole, it is apparent that “born again” implies “born from above.” Moreover, if one is “born from above”, then they would be born again (i.e., a second time). I think it is important to retain the idea of “from above” in any case.
Thanks for taking the time to post the ‘definition’ and places wherein the word in question was used. John 3:13 sums up the totality of the instruction.
I have not had computer time today.
I concur, but the main thing is that one is.

Excellent analysis. Why was the temple veil torn from top to bottom?
There are two ways of answering this so I will do my best to answer both.
1) It is a traditional Jewish sign of grief or mourning. It is called the Kriah (Kree-AH).
Genesis 37:34 34 Then Jacob tore his garments, put sackcloth on his loins, and mourned his son many days.
2 Samuel 1:11 David seized his garments and tore them, and so did all the men who were with him.
The second was so that no one could say that man/men had done it. It could have been done by several men, making a cut in the middle of the bottom and then pulling on the lower corners. Being done fro9m the top to the bottom, it had to be done by God.

The High Priest is critical to Israel, but Jesus arrived in apostate Israel. Prior to Jesus with who did the Jews work out their salvation? Who is John the Baptist?
So John is fulfilling prophecy and doesn’t know his cousin, then why does the Bible mention that they are cousins?
Also, by what right did John call people to repentance and how could they repent prior to Christs death and resurrection?
Excellent article. Thank you.
This is a mighty strange statement, if baptism is REQUIRED for Salvation...
Sigh...
That’s what I’m talking about, Elsie. Don’t you find that strange, IF Paul INDEED was preaching the same gospel as the 12?
