Sometimes it seems that I am living in a Salvador Dali landscape: clocks melting of tables and all that.
Even as I hear about unions turning on the First Gay President over Obamacare, I find an op-ed in today’s Hell’s Bible (aka NY Times) by former KGB colonel and present Leader of the Free World, Vladimir Putin.
I read the op-ed against the backdrop of Syrian dictator Assad, in a politically deft move, saying right on schedule that it was not the Pres. Obama’s resolve for a military solution that moved Charlie Brown’s football down the field, but rather Putin’s and Russia’s involvement. Well-coordinated. Sly.
Here are a couple points from Putin’s op-ed.
A Plea for Caution From Russia
What Putin Has to Say to Americans About Syria[...]
The potential strike by the United States against Syria, despite strong opposition from many countries and major political and religious leaders, including the pope, … [!]

My working and personal relationship with President Obama is marked by growing trust. I appreciate this. I carefully studied his address to the nation on Tuesday. And I would rather disagree with a case he made on American exceptionalism, stating that the United States policy is what makes America different. Its what makes us exceptional. It is extremely dangerous to encourage people to see themselves as exceptional, whatever the motivation. There are big countries and small countries, rich and poor, those with long democratic traditions and those still finding their way to democracy. [He's is talking to Obama's liberal dem base! But a KGB officer would know how to do that.] Their policies differ, too. We are all different, but when we ask for the Lords blessings, we must not forget that God created us equal.
You don’t get to be on the top of the pile in Russia by being either stupid or a nice guy. This was pretty slick.
Putin affirms Obama’s determination to undermine American exceptionalism.
Putin invokes our creator, who “created us equal”, which point Obama has been systematically excluding from his references to the Declaration of Independence.
Pres. Obama has made Putin Leader of the Free World.
OHH Obama riding bumper car that cute LOL!
Very unbecoming suppose leader of Free world
Now Vlady riding the Harley that cool
Very deceptive......I not trusting this.
And I definitely do not trust Obama.
We did, then like the victors in so many other wars before it, we went soft, frivolously electing Clinton, Bush (dynastic politics in a Republic anyone? Yes he rose to the occasion after 9/11, but...) and, worst of all Obama (politics as American Idol for ugly people).
Thanks to our victory, save North Korea and Cuba, all the nominally still-Communist countries have the fascist approximation to a free-market economy, rather than unworkable Communism (not ideal, but better for the people living there), and the former Soviet satellites and most of the now-independent union republics of the old USSR are reasonably free (and even the few that aren't are freer than they were under the USSR), both politically and economically.
Putin's Russia does not try to drive religion from the public square, even having religious education in its school; has a low flat income tax rate and a market economy (yeah, they've got those "oligarchs" but we went through that phase during the "Gilded Age" when the "robber barons" were all cozy with at least a few state legislatures if not the Federal government, and are back to it again with all the "too big to fail" nonsense pulling the bacon out of the fire for well-heeled interests that really deserved to lose everything at taxpayer expense); and has managed to pass laws restricting abortion (unfettered under the Soviets), blocking homosexual recruitment of youth, and addressing the demographic problem of Russia's low birth rate (a problem we have, too, since analogously to only their Muslims keeping the birth rate up, only our underclass is keeping ours up), though we still need to see how well they work long term.
As usual with all our prior foreign wars, the beneficiaries of our victory are not principally Americans, but folks outside the U.S. including at least some of the citizenry of the former enemy powers.
Reagan had nothing but disdain for the Soviet counterparts of his day: Brezhnev, Andropov, Chernenko and Gorbachev. I suspect he would have had at least a begrudging respect for Putin.
Interesting. Is it certain that’s Vlad?
Show that pic to all those here claiming that Putin was the head of the KGB, when he was just a low level flunkie.
So you're implying that the pictures released by the White House are not "deliberate American propaganda"?
The pictures being posted about Obama aren’t deliberate. Why would you deliberately make him look like a fool? Most of the pictures are him just being normal, taking the dog for a walk, eating an ice cream cone, riding a bike with a goofy looking helmet, riding bumper cars with a kid. The staged ones are those in a situation room hunting Bin Laden, foot on the desk etc. I just don’t see these big props like Putin used, or for that matter, what the Clintons did. Remember when the Clintons cut down a treed area and tarred it for a photo op?
If the pictures are released by the White House, you can bet they are deliberate.
Don't you see the purpose of it is propaganda? He's normal, folks! Like you, walking the dog, riding with his daughter. Loving dad. How do you know that this is Obama being "normal", and not him having a cig, yelling at a secretary, throwing a book? Propaganda. All of it.
Seems as if Putin words necessitate a trust in the Lord, whereas Obama has ALWAYS envoked a trust in him or in government, a big difference. Obama has egg all over his face!
Which one is Putin? If that photo was taken in the 1980’s, then Putin would have been in his 30’s. He certainly would have been older than a young boy, no?
The guy with the camera.
