In response to my two previous columns regarding the current development of a devilish New World Order, many professing Christians wrote me with comments to the effect that we should not be concerned about whatever global tyranny may be developing, because "it's all a part of God's plan," or "Jesus is coming soon," and similar statements. I, too, believe in the imminent return of Jesus Christ to earth. But, then again, so did Christians from every generation over the last two millennia. In fact, the Apostle Paul was looking for the return of Christ while he lived (Philippians 3:20). But does anticipation of Christ's Second Coming excuse personal neglect, indifference, and downright laziness? Of course not.
Had pastors and Christians of colonial America believed and acted as most Christians believe and act today, this country would still be a Crown colony and we would never have known the freedoms and liberties that our forebears bequeathed to us. Christians of that era, however, believed that it was their duty and obligation to fight for right and do everything within their power to resist tyranny. They also believed that God would honor and bless their efforts, which He certainly did!
It is extremely difficult for me to reconcile the apathy and slave-like mentality that seems to permeate modern Christendom (in America) with both our own heritage and the very Word of God. For example, the Apostle Paul is very clear when he writes that a Christian must never "do evil, that good may come" (Romans 3:8). Yet, that is exactly what many, if not most, Christians are doing today.

I agree much with Chuck. I'm not too sure that laziness is the best word to describe the current mindset of many Christians. Perhaps Apostasy is a better term brought on by a number of reasons. Read "The Mystery of Iniquity" by Michael Rood.
Real believers will continue the good fight even knowing "these things must come to pass."
The parable of the Bags of Gold comes to mind.
I was wondering about the verse where Paul says a good soldier doesn't become involved in civilian affairs. And the verse which says we don't fight against flesh and blood.
Our responsibilities as U.S. citizens require us to fights against tyranny. Our responsibilities as Christ's servants require us to serve a King and kingdom that is not of this world.
In Israel they laughingly call this the “Inch’Allah” syndrome.

My “radical” Presbyterian pastor looked with well-deserved scorn on these folks. He frequently remarked that by “strumming their guitars and waiting for Jesus to come” instead of being out there as the salt and light mentioned in Scriptures, they were almost certainly guaranteeing the corruption and darkness that salt and light were designed to combat.
Had it not been for the “Black Regiment” of Christian pastors here in the 1700s, America would never have been born. Those men didn’t even own guitars. They owned pistols — which many of them openly wore in their pulpits.
While I pray it may still be too early for the pistols, we need pastors of today to tell their congregations the hard truth of our current situation, followed by a stern rebuke that their apathy and acceptance of evil is how we got here.
There is no question but that the efforts to control mankind, via some form of World Government, have been proceeding for generations. It is not true that all of the internationalists work as one movement, or march to the same drummer. On the other hand, their efforts, whether separate or in consort, have already done immense damage to a great many of the world's distinct peoples.
If you scratch beneath the ideological circle of most Leftist agitations, Academic movements, the "politically correct" suppression of analysis, study, as well as efforts at thought control, the "one world" idea will be found consistently, as part of the origins. The immigration policy of the United States since 1965, has been deliberately slanted towards changing traditional American ethnicity, to make us more like a microcosm of the world's peoples. Why, would anyone seek that result, but to undermine the population's resistance to being incorporated in a new world order? Does any other explanation make any sense?
Why did our foreign policy work to suppress independence movements in Katanga & Biafra in the 1960s, after the Belgians & British freed their African Colonies? Can anyone offer a moral argument why tribal peoples should be lumped together against their will, in maps drawn by former Colonial powers, if they are supposed to be independent? Any moral reason? Or was the reason an ongoing effort to consolidate the earth under a damnable central authority?
We had a great debate in America in 1918 to 1920 on the League of Nations. The idea started out overwhelmingly popular, but the international control forces lost the debate, (See League Of Nations.) The UN was forced through the Senate in a panic, to prevent a serious discussion after World War II, because those who seek new world orders did not dare to trust what a deliberating people would resolve upon. Or does anyone have another explanation--because, check it out, the debate was very truncated, and only two Senators, as I recall, dared to buck the massive propaganda for the ratification of the Charter?

Maybe it isn’t lazines. Maybe it’s simply being unable to emotionally deal with these issues, so they are “sloughed” off.
I believe Jesus wants his followers to not be of the world, but also not be of no use in the world. There is a lot of work to do.
Prophecy also makes me sad, concerned and fearful for those who choose to ignore what is promised.
People fitting that description fill the pews of the nation's churches by the millions in this country...apathy...apostasy.
I get what he is saying, but what does he think we should be doing? I vote, I contact my representatives when I think I need to, I educate myself on the issues of the day so I can make points in political conversations. He might characterize me as one of the lazy ones because I have said some those phrases he takes exception to. But to me those phrases don’t mean I should do nothing politically because all hope is gone, they mean I should be more active in sharing Christ with people because we don’t know the day He will return. I want to find a balance. There’s only so many hours in a day.
And just how would Baldwin “fight...and resist tyranny”? Send a couple of nuke armed Cruise missiles through a palace window? A thousand yard sniper shot? Refuse to pay taxes to an oppressive national government?
Just what does Chuck recommend doing?...in the name of Christ of course....
It's a "prophetic" doctrine that teaches it's God's will for His people to follow the path of least resistance..
There's a whole publishing, speaking, conference, and cruise industry, that's been built on the marketing of the claim that Jesus Christ is going to surrender to Satan and evacuate His troops leaving the world to Satan. Why wouldn't people who fall for that line be lazy?.
The, Bestselling Surrender and Evacuation Doctrine is still the same huge cash cow it's been ever since the 1970s exactly because it makes avoiding the battle against Satan the right thing to do. All the "faithful" have to do is wait to be evacuated from the embassy roof, so to speak.
Plus did not Jesus say that only the Father KNOWS the day and the hour that He (Jesus) is returning?

No pretense. I looked up “Eighty-Eight Reasons for Eighty-Eight” on three different search engines and got lots of music references. I read the first book of the Left Behind series and quickly figured out it was not only theologically unsound but poorly written.

I remember when that book came out. A friend of mine stopped making any future commitments or plans due to that book.
The author talked about the prophecy which says the 'generation won't pass away' before Jesus comes. By defining a generation as 40 years, and adding it to 1948, the author came up with 1988. The author failed to see that a generation doesn't PASS AWAY in forty years - more like 70 to 80 years.
