Does The Orthodox Presbyterian Church use the Crucifix?

Question:
Does the OPC use the crucifix in the church? If not, are they opposed to it?
Answer:
Thank you for your question. The answer is, so far as I know, the crucifix is not used in OPC churches, and here is why:
1.The Second Commandment (Ex. 20:4-6 and Deut. 5:8-10) forbids any picture or image of God, and that would include the Son of God, even as man. At any rate we do not know what Jesus looked like as there is no physical description of him.
2.The crucifix will always end up being an object of worshipregarded as holy. History teaches as much. The bronze serpent Moses made became an object of worship and was not destroyed till King Hezekiah did it (Numbers 21:9; 2 Kings 18:1-5). Roman Catholics have worshipped it, kissed it and held it to have mystical powers.
3.Christ did not remain on the Cross. In the Roman Church Christ is said to be resacrificed each time the Mass is celebrated. This is heresy; he died once for allHebrews 9:25-28.
We in the OPC have learned not to trust our idolatry prone hearts not to do the same as others have in the past. Hence, no crucifixes are used. So, yes, we are opposed to it.

When you post from an non-scripture site, and declare it to have the power of scripture, you owe all here the basis of that declaration.

I find that lamb, like a good steak, is so much better served medium rare. Smoking of lamb, I think, would allow it to cook too long and bring out a gamier taste than grilling or roasting would. JMHO. You have a point. The Mediterranean region, which has its share of smoked recipes, usually recommends roasted lamb.

The second adar, whenever used, has the effect of aligning the calendar with the sun.
It doesn’t matter too much exactly when it is invoked, as long as it is invoked somewhere in sequence. If it is delayed for a year, it has the same effect when it is finally invoked, so it really is not an issue. It doesn’t jog the sabbath out of position.

Weve already been through this parable once in this post. Then go through it again and again until it's implanted in your heart. They are the words and teachings of JESUS!
I'm not surprised to read once is enough for you. It has been posted many times through the years and STILL some refuse to 'get it'.

unworthy manner will be guilty of PROFANING THE BODY AND BLOOD OF THE LORD. how can someone be guilty of profaning the body and blood of the Lord, if the body and blood of the Lord arent present?? WOW! The same way they did when JESUS WAS present - NOT Believing on HIM. And when HE says 'remembrance' that is what HE means.
It's catholicsm and it's teaching that have their flock taking communion in an unworthy manner by unbelief. They also don't believe HE shed ALL His blood, nor that HE is sitting at the right Hand of the Father nor that Jesus gave up HIS Body for ALL and Catholicism says 'no, my people are eating it.' Catholics are profaning the blood Christ much to the pleasure of the one they believe 'man who is evil' who sits on his throne as if it's the most high.

JMHO. Last year the wife and I ran a side by side comparison with the Thanksgiving turkey. I put one in the (smoke king water)smoker and the other I deep fried.
I used identical preparations on both and they weighed within 1/2 pound of each other.
The results: We liked them both for different reasons. The deep fried had the nice crisp skin, but the smoked had the nice mellow smoke flavor that we both enjoy.
Looks like I am going to have do do another test.
I hate when that happens J/K.

Try “brining” a turkey before you roast it. It is, by far, the best I have ever had. Never dry and always tender and flavorful. Cajun deep-fried is super, too. Not a big fan of smoked poultry. Pork or beef brisket, I like, and smoked fish is good.

Yep, almost. I meant “orthodox” but thanks for the correction. When you find my spelling wrong, it’s pretty usually because I type too carelessly with one hand, or I don’t scrutinize the text closely enough. No excuse — just a bad habit. Correct all you want. I like to write right.

That IS what defines his seed! Ok...
I'll post the Scripture for it:
Galatians 3:29
If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed ...
Now then...
Just HOW do we know if we (or someone else) 'belongs to Christ'?

Meanwhile; back to the thread...
Does The Orthodox Presbyterian Church use the Crucifix?
Does y'all know them Presbyterians ain't TRUE??
(I got it on really good authority...)
17 It no sooner appeared than I found myself delivered from the enemy which held me bound. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the otherThis is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!
18 My object in going to inquire of the Lord was to know which of all the sects was right, that I might know which to join. No sooner, therefore, did I get possession of myself, so as to be able to speak, than I asked the Personages who stood above me in the light, which of all the sects was right (for at this time it had never entered into my heart that all were wrong)and which I should join.
19 I was answered that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors were all corrupt; that: they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof.
20 He again forbade me to join with any of them; and many other things did he say unto me, which I cannot write at this time. When I came to myself again, I found myself lying on my back, looking up into heaven. When the light had departed, I had no strength; but soon recovering in some degree, I went home. And as I leaned up to the fireplace, mother inquired what the matter was. I replied, Never mind, all is wellI am well enough off. I then said to my mother, I have learned for myself that Presbyterianism is not true.
Needless to say; this did NOT sit well with some folks...
Christian churches teach belief in God as an eternal, self-existent, immortal being, unfettered by corporeal limitations and unchanging in both character and nature.
In recent years, several Christian denominations have made studies of Mormon teaching and come to the conclusion that there are irreconcilable differences between LDS doctrine and Christian beliefs based on the Bible.

From Wiki: Tiberius was one of Rome’s greatest generals, conquering Pannonia, Dalmatia, Raetia, and temporarily Germania; laying the foundations for the northern frontier. But he came to be remembered as a dark, reclusive, and sombre ruler who never really desired to be emperor; Pliny the Elder called him tristissimus hominum, “the gloomiest of men.
