The Pope is soft on Islam.
"It is true that the Muslim world is not totally mistaken when it reproaches the West of Christian tradition of moral decadence and the manipulation of human life."
Encourages Homosexuality.
"It is deplorable that homosexual persons have been and are the object of violent malice in speech or in action. Such treatment deserves condemnation from the church's pastors wherever it occurs."
[SNIP]
He is overtly humble and does not embrace his office:
"The authority of the pope is not unlimited;"
"The cardinals have elected me, a simple and humble worker in the Lord's vineyard. The fact that the Lord can work and act even with insufficient means consoles me, and above all I entrust myself to your prayers."
He makes a point of extolling women and the Church.
It is theologically and anthropologically important for woman to be at the center of Christianity. Through Mary, and the other holy women, the feminine element stands at the heart of the Christian religion.
On those neo-pelagians that think they can earn their way to heaven through piety instead of charity:
If in my life I fail completely to heed others, solely out of a desire to be 'devout' and to perform my 'religious duties', then my relationship with God will also grow arid. It becomes merely 'proper', but loveless.
He cares about the environment:
Listen to the voice of the earth...
He even hates Capitalism:
"the prevalence of a selfish and individualistic mindset which also finds expression in an unregulated capitalism"

Is Francis the last Pope: Peter the Roman ?shalom b'SHEM Yah'shua HaMashiach
Are you saying that Jesus Christ stopped leading the Christian Church?
Thanks, Alex! Wonderful article, right down to the last line: kicky!
This post meant to cause trouble.
The last sentence of the article could have and should have been included in the first response, but it was not.
The article was written about Pope Benedict and its audience is NCRegister readers who would and can always trust that their newspaper would never disparage the Pope
The poster says read the article knowing many will not, as evidenced by the many discouraged posters
The last sentence, this is about Pope Benedict, was not in there
Francis may be worse than all those who followed Pius XII and Vatican II. And that’s quite a stretch.
There is a lot of projection going on concerning Pope Francis. That’s what makes this article with its surprise ending possible.
Funny how no one's taken issue with the author's bait-and-switch assertion that BXVI was a liberal :)
” On the other hand would you say that Peter directly succeded Jesus Christ as the leader of the Church.”
No.
I would say that Jesus appointed him “prime minister” (if I needed to use another word than “vicar”)
See Matthew 16:19 where Jesus gave to him the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven. To understand that more fully, you should look at Isaiah 22:21-22 and see the appointment given to Eliakim. Peter’s successors then retained those keys, but Jesus clearly remains the King of Kings.
I thought mindreading and thought control were outside of the purview of Catholicism?
Blecch!
Mind reading, right.
We’ve been down this anti pope road before
You and I, Mr. Murphy
That and a cursory glance at the effect of and the fruits of your post show clearly an intent without mind reading
A more effective route for your anti catholic sentiments might include going directly to an experienced or especially holy priest
But to use this forum for it seems very inappropriate to me and chicken
Why are you encouraging people to sin, Alex?
Murphy believes that the Pope serves Satan and not God.
This article is about Pope Benedict.
It is tongue in cheek
It is from an authentically Catholic Paper
Would that be these fruits and effects, stanne?
Post # 4: "Good article. LOL"
Post #17: "Lol! Great post, Alex. And good catch, Servant."
Post #19: "Am I the only one here that thinks maybe the Pope should be liberal?"
Post #23: "Thanks, Alex! Wonderful article, right down to the last line: kicky!"
“The authority of the pope is not unlimited;”
Every thing else if an actual statement of his, i agree, i would consider him a liberal and a new world enthusiast.
People who have never had to get out and pick s..t with the chickens do not understand that Capitalism is what feeds the hungry people all over the world.
When Jesus was talking about giving drink or food to people he was talking about giving of ones self, personally, do unto others as you would have them do unto you,
but
Matt 20 shows very plainly that Jesus was not against Capitalism.
It is nothing but envy of what some one else has, regardless of how hard they worked or did not work to get it.
Who will help me gather in the crop? not i said them all.
Who will help me eat it? i will said them all.
Murphy believes that the Pope serves Satan and not God.
Murphy believes you should have pinged me to your post to stanne
Sorry, haven’t found that comment anywhere in the scriptures that I have read and since I have read the entire Bible at this point, I would like your scriptural reference from the LORD that gave this authority to the pope. My Bible says that ONLY through Jesus will anyone see the Father. Doesn’t mention the pope in that reference.
Am I inaccurate?
