Muslims and Christians must raise young people to think and speak respectfully of other religions and their followers, and to avoid ridiculing or denigrating their convictions and practices, Pope Francis has said.
In a personal message to the worlds Muslims to mark the end of Ramadan, the Pope said: Turning to mutual respect in inter-religious relations, especially between Christians and Muslims, we are called to respect the religion of the other, its teachings, its symbols, its values. Particular respect is due to religious leaders and to places of worship. How painful are attacks on one or other of these!
It is clear that, when we show respect for the religion of our neighbours or when we offer them our good wishes on the occasion of a religious celebration, we simply seek to share their joy, without making reference to the content of their religious convictions.
Regarding the education of Muslim and Christian youth, we have to bring up our young people to think and speak respectfully of other religions and their followers, and to avoid ridiculing or denigrating their convictions and practices.
We all know that mutual respect is fundamental in any human relationship, especially among people who profess religious belief. In this way, sincere and lasting friendship can grow.

Your Eminence:
Take a break from financial statements are hear something spiritual: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6k8DFb8fWs
God gave us a brain as well as a heart.
Using one and ignoring the other is foolish.
I was appalled by a former Pope kissing the koran.
I will not submit to the worship of a black rock in the desert or the ravings of a treacherous thief and murderer.
Jesus is the Way,period.
Nope; he said this:
“we are called to respect the religion of the other, its teachings, its symbols, its values.”
Note the words “teachings” and “values”!
Those comments have to be great solace to the Christians being massacred by Muslims in Africa. Times sure have changed. Say what you like about the Medici and Borgia popes, but somehow they would have handled it differently.
Read the story. The Pope is talking TO Muslims, not necessarily ABOUT Muslims.
We know that - it's the Great Commission and the reason we are here.
but must also tolerate and love fallen people (who havent been saved by the Blood of Jesus, yet) as we once were~!
Wrong I don't have to tolerate of anything/anyone. I'm not PC nor was JESUS. And I show my love by telling them the Truth and they love themselves enough to accept Jesus as their Savior. They were saved by His Blood as He died for all, they either don't know it or believe it because of 'religion' and they think they have to do something to gain it.
It's all about a relationship with The Father and their need for a Savior and then they are hungry for His Word as they want to know Jesus more and more because of His Grace and Mercy that He extends to us. No greater love has anyone known than His Love - IF they get to know Him. If they don't they are none of His.
The pope is partially wrong.
He's all wrong. And catholics can obey him and they will be wrong, also. He's setting them up for one world religion with his 'respect other faiths'. There is only one faith and that is the 'Faith of God' and that's not where he is coming from but one world religion and the anti-Christ.
Do you respect Islam’s “teachings” and “values”?
News Flash -Vatican Daily Presser:
“POPE TALKS TO WALL!
Is he saying, “God created Muslims in the image of God, too?”
You read the story, fella. Your “TO” and “ABOUT,” are inconsequential, to any proffered story, other than obeisance. Fealty to allah, is always absolute. There is no maybe, perhaps or perchance.
Islam is a murderous death cult bent on world domination.
Sorry, Neville Chamberlain tried respecting something like that in 1938.
Nothing personal meant, but since you posted a good opening line for some questions I had simmering in the back of my mind - I typed those questions.
‘Sides, they had simmered long enough and were done. Ready for asking.
Seems to be, so. And?
We are called to respect others because they are made in the image and likeness of God.
We do NOT have to respect their false beliefs. No way, no how.
Understand. Bye the way, not that it makes a difference, I’m not Catholic. Just someone making an observation.
“Those comments have to be great solace to the Christians being massacred by Muslims in Africa. Times sure have changed. Say what you like about the Medici and Borgia popes, but somehow they would have handled it differently.”
Given Putin’s familiarity with Muslim terrorism in Russia, and the resurgence of the Russian Orthodox Church, wouldn’t it be the perfect Putin b*tch slapping of Obama if the Russians took action against the Koranimals attacking Christians?
They seem to know how to deal with Koranimals at sea.
;-)
Syrian Rebels massacred the entire Christian Population of al-duvair village in Reef (outskirt of Homs) on May 27th.
Talking to Muslims is like trying to teach a baboon to write. It wastes your time, frustrates both you and the baboon, and eventually the baboon sticks the pencil into your eye and starts gnawing on your throat.
