Muslims and Christians must raise young people to think and speak respectfully of other religions and their followers, and to avoid ridiculing or denigrating their convictions and practices, Pope Francis has said.
In a personal message to the worlds Muslims to mark the end of Ramadan, the Pope said: Turning to mutual respect in inter-religious relations, especially between Christians and Muslims, we are called to respect the religion of the other, its teachings, its symbols, its values. Particular respect is due to religious leaders and to places of worship. How painful are attacks on one or other of these!
It is clear that, when we show respect for the religion of our neighbours or when we offer them our good wishes on the occasion of a religious celebration, we simply seek to share their joy, without making reference to the content of their religious convictions.
Regarding the education of Muslim and Christian youth, we have to bring up our young people to think and speak respectfully of other religions and their followers, and to avoid ridiculing or denigrating their convictions and practices.
We all know that mutual respect is fundamental in any human relationship, especially among people who profess religious belief. In this way, sincere and lasting friendship can grow.

since islam isnt a religion that leaves them out
Can’t fault the man for trying, even though it will fall upon deaf ears.
Why respect false religions? Should we respect currency counterfeiters?
Does that include the Satanists, Baal worshipers, Allah the Goat God, or Gay Narcissists?
Apparently, Pope Francis drinks. Such a message could not fall on deafer ears!

Yes. I believe he drinks a lot of Kool-Aid.
The truth cannot coexist with a lie- if Jesus is the Truth and The way, and The Life (and He is) then we must preach the truth in love to those who aren’t “born-gain”, but must also tolerate and love fallen people (who haven’t been saved by the Blood of Jesus, yet) as we once were~!
The pope is partially wrong.
The Pope is a Holy man ,but he sounds terribly Naïve.
Islam is not interested in getting along with other religions.
Moslems can go to hell and burn for all I care....
LOL!!!
“Cant fault the man for trying, even though it will fall upon deaf ears.”
Can’t? Watch me!
This pope forgets what Muslims have done to all non-Muslims for over 1,400 years.
Don’t forget - they are still burning churches full of Christians inside that church.
Just Muslims being what they have always been.
It is time to accept that “mutual respect” is a fool’s dream, or a cowards whine. Islam IS serious about ruling the world and destroying all other faiths and governments.
The Pope can’t claim his whimping out on Islam’s crimes is of Divine derivation, as both Moses and Jesus were explicit regarding things such as murder, rape, torture, arson - in short, they both said God had forbidden such behavior.
Mohammed and his followers had a career of behavior God allegedly had forbidden.
How can this Pope ask that such a “religion” be respected?
Surely this Pope isn’t trying to make Islam acceptable to Catholics? Or is he?
He can’t really think they’re going to listen and take him seriously, can he?
Muslim’s opinion of other religions = the Crusades.
Has he forgotten that?
Salvation, do you agree with Pope Francis?
While I’m still a little skeptical about this pope, the article indicates that he was speeking to muslims at the end of ramadan (lower case on purpose).
How sweet! Bless his heart.
Whose heart? Mohammed’s?
Sorry, Jeff. I missed the sarcasm tag.
Whoa there skippy, I said what I said not as any kind of praise, but as a statement only.
