Catholic Word of the Day: HIS HOLINESS, 07-26-13
CatholicReference.net ^ | 07-26-13 | Fr. John Hardon's Modern Catholic Dictionary

Featured Term (selected at random):

HIS HOLINESS

A title of honor and respect reserved in the Western Church for the Holy Father, the Pope, because of his administrative office of holy things. The term is sometimes applied to patriarchs in the East, e.g., to the Melkite patriarch in Antioch, in union with Rome, who is called "Most Holy in the Liturgy," and the Orthodox patriarch of Constantinople, who is spoken of as "His All-Holiness."

So what do you say when you talk about the Queen of England? Or the new royal baby, George Alexander Louis?

Re-read Post #19 S-L-O-W-L-Y. Why would you confuse man made political positions with religious ones? Your questions and argument make no theological sense. Do not mix the worldly with the Godly.

Just trying to bring it down to common everyday use. Sorry you don’t understand titles of respect.

Guess you haven’t been in the service either. Believe me, there they teach you titles of respect!

I don't suppose you have had a brain fever or a concussion lately, have you? Why do this dance around a tree routine? You are giving a man the title of God. Tell yourself that over and over until you understand it. Your pope is not holy. He is sinful. Just like the moon has no radiance of its own, the pope has no holiness of his own. No man deserves the title due only to God.

There is a difference betweeen impeccable and infalliable. Many make that mistake.

The past Popes have gone to Confession weekly. They know they are weak and sinful.

I would suppose the present Pope does likewise.

I use to spar back and forth over these Catholic word games. You know, y'all (my Southern accent) make religion real complicated. Fancy words, confusing meanings, man made traditions. Jesus had to battle that also. They were called Pharisees. Do you know that word Pharisees? Sure you do. Ever notice the similarities between them and Catholics? It sure is something.
