LDS seminary teacher charged with burglary, theft of prescription drugs

ROOSEVELT — A man responsible for teaching religious education classes to LDS high school students is facing criminal charges after investigators say he burglarized a home on a Sunday afternoon to steal prescription painkillers.

Brian Dean Thacker was charged Wednesday in 8th District Court with burglary, a second-degree felony, theft, a class B misdemeanor, and possession of a controlled substance, a class B misdemeanor.

On May 26, Thacker entered a home about 2 p.m. and took Lortab from a medicine cabinet, according to Duchesne County sheriff's detective Dela Rowley.

A woman was upstairs in the home at the time and heard Thacker moving around downstairs, Rowley said. She waited until Thacker left and then looked out the window and recognized him, the detective said.

Thacker, 42, was interviewed after the incident was reported to the sheriff's office. He corroborated the woman's account of what happened and admitted to taking Lortab from the home, Rowley said.

Thacker served as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints seminary teacher for Union High School during the 2012-13 academic year. Prior to that, he was the seminary teacher for LDS students at Altamont High School.

"The church expects the highest level of conduct from its seminary teachers," LDS Church spokeswoman Ruth Todd said. "Brian Thacker is on administrative leave."

So far investigators do not believe Thacker was using prescription painkillers while teaching seminary classes or soliciting medication from his students, Rowley said.

Thacker has entered an inpatient drug treatment program. His first court appearance is set for June 27.

Are Mormons unworthy of our prayers?

are only 15% or so of MORMONs 'worthy' of their highest level of Heaven?

(Ask one to find out.)

Our Lord, Who art in Heaven;

As Christians, the ridicule and scorn we suffer is once again on the rise. As sinners, we are certainly owed that scorn, and much more. Whether it is the Catholics in Rome, The Presbyterians in Africa, or the Mormons in Indonesia, there are truly evil forces marching against us.

We thank you for the grace extended to us through the blood of Your son, Jesus Christ. We praise you for the many blessings you have provided to, and for us everyday.

Please give us the humbleness required to be good servants for you, and good friends to our neighbors.

Amen

To: laotzu; Elsie

What happened to the Christians in America ridiculed and scorned by Mormons ???

My 2 year old daughter used to suffer every time a Mormon would yell at her that she was an evil person and wasnt going to heaven because she wasnt a Mormon...

They would ridicule and scorn her when she screamed in fright from their hateful mean voices...

and the Mormons who would come to my house and tell me I might rate as a slave to one of them in their Mormon afterlife...

Ya must have forgot the Christians...

BTW Mormons dont like Presbyterians

if ya trying to make Brownie points with the cult DONT mention the Presbyterians

thats red rag to a bull

The Presbyterians excommunicated Joey Smith and his family

as did the Methodists

for blasphemy...

They were teaching that their Mormonism and their book of Mormon had replaced the LORD Jesus Christ and the Christian Bible and Christianity...

but Joey Smith said to his Mom Lucy Mack Smith “Never mind Mom Presbytertianism wasnt true anyway Its too hard for me too obey those Commandments The Presbyterians frown on me wanted to have sex with their daughters Lets just invent our own religion wjere we can do what we want to...

and so Joey Smith invented Mormonism which excluded every one of the Ten Commandments and included blasphemy against God, hatred for Christian parents, sex, murder, coveting, stealing, worship of Joey and lots of scams for profit...

Until Joey Smith declared himself greater than the LORD Jesus Christ..

and then God put down the false prophet Joey Smith like the mongrel dog that he was...

Be humble laotzu, in the Name of Jesus

May many members of the false Mormon cult repent of their sins and ask the LORD Jesus Christ to save them to the uttermost for His Blood was shed for them also, in the Name of Jesus...

May God richly bless the Christians in the Catholic and Presbyterian churches, and empower them with the Holy Spirit to help them preach the Gospel to the lost and dying world of Mormonism...

There ya go kid...

BYU professor Robert J. Matthews, who on page 282 of his book, A Bible! A Bible!, wrote, “It was in Gethsemane, on the slopes of the Mount of Olives, that Jesus made his perfect atonement by the shedding of his blood-more so than on the cross.”

Mormon Apostle Bruce McConkie, stated, “Where and under what circumstances was the atoning sacrifice of the Son of God made? Was it on the Cross of Calvary or in the Garden of Gethsemane? It is to the Cross of Christ that most Christians look when centering their attention upon the infinite and eternal atonement. And certainly the sacrifice of our Lord was completed when he was lifted up by men; also, that part of his life and suffering is more dramatic and, perhaps, more soul stirring. But in reality the pain and suffering, the triumph and grandeur, of the atonement took place primarily in Gethsemane,” (Doctrinal New Testament Commentary, vol. 1, p. 774

From the Bible:

“And might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, by it having put to death the enmity,” (Eph. 2:16).
“And through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven,” (Col. 1:20).
Having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us and which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross,” (Col. 2:14).
“And He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed,” (1 Pet. 2:24).
“For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified,” (1 Cor. 2:2).

Jesus Christ does NOT atone in the garden but ON THE CROSS.

mormons teach a conditional “salvation”

Being cleansed from sin through Christ’s Atonement is conditioned upon the individual sinner’s faith, which must be manifested by obedience to the Lord’s command to repent, be baptized, and receive the Holy Ghost…Believers who have had this rebirth [baptism] at the hands of those having authority have already been saved from sin conditionally, but they will not be saved finally until they have completed their mortal probation with the required continuing repentance, faithfulness, service, and enduring to the end.” (Ensign, May 1998, 55)

Have you met all the conditions?

I thank God Almighty that I am Saved by Grace and not conditions.

Them being MORMON - right?

As Christians, the ridicule and scorn we suffer is once again on the rise. As sinners, we are certainly owed that scorn, and much more. Whether it is the Catholics in Rome, The Presbyterians in Africa, or the Mormons in Indonesia, there are truly evil forces marching against us.

Herein lies a problem:

you've not identified WHY you think MORMONs are Christian.

PING to the lovely Elsie, our resident authority on the Presbyterian question

We be in TROUBLE now!

JESUS: Hey Smith! Remember that boast you made about doing more than even I had done to hold the 'church' together?

JOSEPH SMITH: Where am I?

JESUS: Don't you remember? A few seconds ago you were in that jail.

JOSEPH SMITH: Oh; yeah; but where am I NOW?

JESUS: Don't you remember? Does bang - bang ring a bell?

JOSEPH SMITH: Oh; yeah - that crummy gun I had was about USELESS!

JESUS: I hope you left instructions on how to hold your church together.

JOSEPH SMITH: Dang! I knew there was SOMETHING I was forgetting!

JESUS: Looks like there's a power struggle going on down there.

JOSEPH SMITH: Yeah; there was always SOMEone who wanted the power that I held - especially over the LADIES - wink wink.

JESUS: No need to worry about that now; remember what my friend Matthew wrote down?

JOSEPH SMITH: This? “At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven” (Matthew 22:30)

JESUS: That's it.

JOSEPH SMITH: I thought that was mistranslated.

JESUS: Nah - it was right.

JOSEPH SMITH: Oh well; it was fun while it lasted. My buds will still get it on with the girls.

JESUS: Uh; I'm sorry; in just a few more years; your followers will cavein to the United States government and abandon the 'Eternal Covenant' that you came up with.

JOSEPH SMITH: ME!? YOU are the one that told me to do that!

JESUS: Sorry; but you must have mistranslated what I told you. What part of Do NOT commit ADULTERY did you not understand?

JOSEPH SMITH: mumble....

JESUS: What did you say?

JOSEPH SMITH: Oh, nothing.

JESUS: Well; it was interesting talking to you; but now I must get back to perparing a place for those who believe in Me.

JOSEPH SMITH: Oh, yeah; the Celestial Kingdom.

JESUS: No...

JOSEPH SMITH: The Telestial one?

JESUS: Nope.

JOSEPH SMITH: SUREly not the TERRESTRIAL one!!

JESUS: Nope. Didn't you read that the mind of man had NOT conceived of it? Paul wrote it down in 1 Corinthians 2:9.

JOSEPH SMITH: I thought that was mistranslated.

JESUS: No; it wasn't.

JOSEPH SMITH: You SURE?

JESUS: Yes. Now I must be going: what did you say your name was again?

JOSEPH SMITH: Joseph Smith.

JESUS: Hmmmm. According to my Heavenly FAITHbook, you didn't sign in as one of my friends - sorry, I never knew you.

JOSEPH SMITH: But....

I do not sense the Spirit about you.

Oh?

What, exactly, are you LOOKING for?

The humbleness of St. Paul??

Galatians 5:12
As for those agitators, I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves!

Or maybe JESUS?

Mark 7:26-27
 26.  The woman was a Greek, born in Syrian Phoenicia. She begged Jesus to drive the demon out of her daughter.
 27.  "First let the children eat all they want," he told her, "for it is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to their dogs."
