ROOSEVELT A man responsible for teaching religious education classes to LDS high school students is facing criminal charges after investigators say he burglarized a home on a Sunday afternoon to steal prescription painkillers.
Brian Dean Thacker was charged Wednesday in 8th District Court with burglary, a second-degree felony, theft, a class B misdemeanor, and possession of a controlled substance, a class B misdemeanor.
On May 26, Thacker entered a home about 2 p.m. and took Lortab from a medicine cabinet, according to Duchesne County sheriff's detective Dela Rowley.
A woman was upstairs in the home at the time and heard Thacker moving around downstairs, Rowley said. She waited until Thacker left and then looked out the window and recognized him, the detective said.
Thacker, 42, was interviewed after the incident was reported to the sheriff's office. He corroborated the woman's account of what happened and admitted to taking Lortab from the home, Rowley said.
Thacker served as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints seminary teacher for Union High School during the 2012-13 academic year. Prior to that, he was the seminary teacher for LDS students at Altamont High School.
"The church expects the highest level of conduct from its seminary teachers," LDS Church spokeswoman Ruth Todd said. "Brian Thacker is on administrative leave."
So far investigators do not believe Thacker was using prescription painkillers while teaching seminary classes or soliciting medication from his students, Rowley said.
Thacker has entered an inpatient drug treatment program. His first court appearance is set for June 27.
Not for liberals!! So that's your attraction.
Years ago, I watched a bunch of white NBC talking heads discuss whether Supreme Court Justice Thomas was authentically black.
You made me think of that.
I hope you & yours enjoy a safe weekend.
So now we know more about what you don't know.
Do you now intend to demean and weaken my faith?
No one can do the job the way you do.
Thanks. Enjoy.
Sandy that comment in #97 is your old calling card !!!
I remember you used to add to it whether or not you actually understood the words as the Christian Bible states them..
it was just for effect...
Where ya been kiddo ???
Years ago Justice Thomas couldnt be a member/priest of the Mormons because he was black
the Mormons said he was cursed...
you made me think of that...
Years ago Justice Thomas couldn't be a Supreme Court Justice of the United States because he was black.
Years ago Justice Thomas couldnt be a chief/medicine man of the Cherokee Nation because he was black.
Years ago Justice Thomas couldnt be a member/Wing Commander of the Luftwaffe...Prince of Persia...Emporer of China...Miss Alabama...all because he was black.
Damn Mormons!!
You are finally seeing it!
Let's make sure. What is 'it'?
Sorry I am late to the discussion today. Had a special service over in Zion National Park for a 94 year old legend that passed. Mother of a favorite artist.
Anyway here is a new good ol' days story. When out tracting one day in the Fredericksberg district of Copenhagen a guy asked me about turning the other cheek. I said yes we do and he decked me. And then again. I got up and beat the living shit out of him and said it says nothing about the third time.
I cannot begin to tell you how many things like that happen to these young people out there while serving. It causes a certain defensive and almost martyr like way of thinking.Sure glad I got over it.
Have you seen this one?

Now that's says someone was coached - and now taking the test.
She no longer exists.
mormonism is not Christianity, if you knew anything about mormonism you would know that.
Your faith will not be demeaned by the exposure of mormonism, which is not Christianity.
It might serve you well to pay attention what is being posted, quoting actual words of mormonism leaders and from the book of mormon.
If that is true, then you also beleive that god was once a man who earned godhood or that jesus did not pay the price on the cross but in the garden or that god had physical sex with Mary or that the leaders of mormonism say without Joseph Smith there would be no salvation........you are defending that?
Then one must ask what is your faith?
That is not what moronism teaches, mormonism teaches you must work for your own salvation.
momonism does not teach that.
They teach yo must earn your salvation through works.
Christian
