What profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?

Learn the new rule on the outdated antiquated scorecard rule - 33-7. Augusta applied this new rule absolutely correctly.
As to the drop issue, that’s perhaps another story - but the scorecard rule has been changed for just this kind of situation.

I really don’t understand the issue.
He dropped the ball two yards behind where his last shot was from for a 1 stroke penalty.
How is this a big cheat?
And no, I do not play golf.

I’m sorry CHRISTIAN DIARIST, this really was an idiotic post. The whole situation has been handled correctly by the rules committee, the officials managing the tournament & Tiger himself.
While you’re enjoying the hits on your blog, be sure to take that plank out of your eye.

Woods is
not my favorite golfer, and, indeed, prior to the 15th on Friday, I hoped he would not add to his recent success by winning the Masters. There are many outstanding young golfers who, if they play well, deserve such an honor and may model better behavior for youth in America.
With that said, and considering his historical angry outbursts and profanity when disappointed in the outcome of a shot, yesterday's demeanor and restraint in proceeding from what must have been deep frustration, which enabled him to continue with focus, was commendable and indicated that lessons may have been learned. At that point, my reaction was to wish him well.
His total honesty as to his intent, during the press interview following the round, also served him well, although it resulted in the 2-stroke penalty.
Now, he accepts the belated penalty with dignity, and will, no doubt, have learned other lessons himself. That, in itself, provides a good lesson for youth.

Tiger combined two rules and I think it was an honest mistake. BUT, if he weren’t the name he is and the top PR man for the Masters he would’ve been booted.
To: CHRISTIAN DIARIST
Tiger signed his scorecard without including the two penalty strokes and left the golf course. This morning he learned of his errorLame. He didn't "learn of his error" because it wasn't until today that the "powers that be" ruled there was even an error in the first place. And what's with the, "Im a huge Tiger Woods fan. Thats why it pains me..."? You're full of horse manure.

I lost all respect for Eldrick Woods (I don't call him by his nickname) after he made up a story about a
racial incident while he was in kindergarten.

Tiger Woods, like The Messiah, is a half-breed, and although he once had a tremendous steroid-enhanced body and physical skill, once his mental ego was crushed when his diddlings caused his blonde trophy-wife to leave him, he was no longer feared by opponents. His intimidation evaporated when young-blood new golfers knew he COULD be beaten, and has NOT been the same since.
For the fools who follow celebrity as some sort of God-like attraction, he remains defended despite rule-breaking, rule-bending, and ONLY because he is touted as "Black" is he a feature that draws hangers-on and Politically Correct followers. He no longer commands the Endorsement Contracts he had previously, and his attitude is arrogant, beyond belief.
I was at the Masters in 1998, when Mark O'Meara won, yet the bulk of the attention and media coverage ALWAYS includes Woods, even when he's not even on the Leader Board. Likewise, you will see the Leaderboard on the Networks with his name listed, even though he is not contending amongst the leaders, and may be in 15th place, when they list the Top Ten Leaders, plus a bottom line of Tiger Woods position and score. Even when the Leaders are hitting shots, the cameras are on Woods, missing live action of the players who are at THE TOP.
Get over it....he's a has-been.

So let's supplement the instant replay of professional baseball, football and basketball and give all TV watchers an opportunity to show why the officials (umpires or referees) erroneous calls wrongly decided the winner of the game.
The Masters officials made their ruling after the placement of the ball. Subsequently a TV caller raised an issue. The original decision of the Masters officials then got reversed. So lets do the same for all sports professional and amateur.
Maybe we should also require a pimp of the legal industry (a lawyer) to be present in a position to override the game officials. This could really be a windfall for the legal industry!

Tiger Woods is a deeply flawed role model. This is another case that proves he's still not walking the walk while talking the talk. Tiger is a hypocrite.

Amen!
The one aspect of golf had that it prized above everything, was it's high value on integrity.
That is now gone.
