In a Good Friday interview with ABC News, Archbishop José Gomez of Los Angeles renewed his call for a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants in the United States.
We have to give them the opportunity if they want to be citizens, he said. If they don't have the opportunity, then we will create a permanent underclass in our society, which is not fair, and it's not the American way.
Praising Pope Francis for his pastoral style, Archbishop Gomez, who was totally surprised by his election, said that having somebody from Latin America that can understand your culture, and your traditions, and the way that you worship, and the way you relate to each other I think is going to be a big encouragement for Catholics in the whole continent, and especially for Latinos.
I think his Jesuit training, his love for the poor, his care for the poor and the way that he can deal with situations, will make him more pastoral, more close to the people, he added.
Describing the clerical abuse scandal as a huge, horrible tragedy in the life of the Church, Archbishop Gomez said that we have to try, we have been trying to minister to the victims of sexual abuse and do all we can, and we continue to help them in the process of healing.
Gomez sets a bad example for all immigrants to follow. He became a citizen via the same opportunity that exists today for any legal immigrant in this country, but wants to reward illegal immigrants with amnesty:

USCIS Process
"At USCitizenship.info we believe that the process of becoming an American citizen should be easy to understand, simple to complete, and accessible to every eligible person. Assuming you already have a Green Card, this article will address the most common questions that individuals may have when going through the naturalization process:"

Or, instead of a "nation of laws", let's just do chaos instead, and let the battle begin.
WE didn't create this permanent underclass, Your Holiness. THEY did. By illegally crossing the border and coming to a country where they can never become citizens THEY created and joined this permanent underclass. If they had stayed in Latin America, they would be citizens. They would be legal. And with hard work and entrepreneurial skills, or with a clever invention, they could become rich in the same way that so many Latinos have become rich: by staying in Latin America, and using their hard work and their skills to make Latin America a better place to live.
The whole discussion about illegal immigration starts from a flawed premise ... or more accurately, several flawed premises. Start from the premise that the law must be obeyed, Your Holiness. And from there, the discussion will reach a fair and just conclusion for everyone.
One of the biggest gripes I have with the Catholic Church and many other churches. They simply don’t seem to recognize the concept of national sovereignty.
. . . Gomez is a natural conciliator admired for uniting rich and poor and Anglo and Hispanic Catholics behind Denver's Centro Juan Diego, a hybrid Latino religious-instruction and social-services center hailed as a national model. In 2007 he was also featured on CNNs list of Notable Hispanics in a web special celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month.
Oh, but we do. Exactly what are you talking about??
He’s encouraging us to reward the millions who came here illegally (and are a huge drain to taxpayers) with citizenship.
End of story.
I would say the standard bearers have been the Catholic Church, she says. You have to give the Catholic Church credit for also being in this modern version of the fight for immigrant rights, for being very much in the front and center for a long time.

LA's Latino Catholic leaders push for immigration reform
Ruxandra Guidi | November 21st, 2012, 4:34pm
"Many Roman Catholic clergy like Ajic are joining forces with the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles and with other advocacy organizations on this new campaign. In the year ahead they want the federal government to pass immigration reform, and to stop the deportation of undocumented immigrants with no criminal records."
"Los Angeles Catholic Archbishop Jose Gomez has also joined religious leaders across the political spectrum who regard the reelection of President Obama as a new opportunity to enact comprehensive immigration reform."

I guess I should have voted for Obama to have been on the "right" side with Gomez, an "angel of light". /s
And do you have a direct telephone line to him to verify this?
I doubt it.
Do your links include that he wants them to become naturalized citizens?
Did you bother to read this story?
Protesters Question Clergyman’s Loyalty
At Archbishop Jose Gomez Residence
Dozens of protesters have shown up at Archbishop of Los Angelus Jose Gomez residence many carrying American flags and bearing signs questioning his loyalty to the US not Mexico along with many signs demanding equal rights for American citizens in Mexico.
The protest was apparently triggered by the clerics decision to push forward with his predesessors decision the disgraced Cardinal Mahoney with offering amnesty thus citizenship to Mexicans crossing the border illegally while thousands of Americans in Mexico suffer under 2nd class citizenship unable to own property and suffer indignantys let alone participate in Mexican elections while living there in Mexico.
A spokeswoman for the group, Harriet Hildegarden insisted her group consists of Catholics loyal to the church. “We will be protesting at other locations where prominent clergy of the church have sided with the Obama regime. Hildy” claims the church is supporting the democrat party which denied God at their convention and declared what she claims is war on the Catholics but would do collude with it on social engineering issues including “amnesty” .
When asked if she may be denied communion for her activities her reply was “Well it’s been known that when that happens quicker when clerics get personally attacked rather than when some politican challanges the church on the grounds of faith and morals” .

Why don't you try reading them? Post #3 & #5 are links to the process already in place that many have already had to follow. With your "direct telephone line to him" maybe you can suggest he (Gomez) and they follow the law? Even Jesus submitted Himself to the law.
But that's not what Gomez wants. He wants a special exemption made because a certain "class", just happens to be mostly Catholic. Veneered with a glowing layer of Jesus to help sell it of course. It's Left wing Catholics ABOVE country. Shake 'n bake, and you help. Feels good, doesn't it?

"One continent", one world, one kingdom on earth, with the RCC at the head. FORWARD "Christian" soldiers.
Thank-you for the "conversation".
What I’m talking about is the church’s bishops supporting essentially open borders. That doesn’t exactly constitute a respect for national sovereignty to me.
Did you read the first line of this story — y’know, Gomez’s call for a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants in the United States???
I doubt it.
Got it now?
The vast majority of Hispanics vote for pro-abortion politicians. Anyone who wants more of them voting is objectively pro-abortion, and that includes Archbishop Gomez.
