Surely we must appear at times to be very amateurish when compared to the professional clergy of other churches.
One doctrine presents a particular challenge. It is our firm conviction that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is...“the only true and living church upon the face of the whole earth.” (D&C 1:30)
This doctrine often generates resistance and repels the casual investigator.
Some have said, “We want nothing to do with anyone who makes so presumptuous a claim as that.”
The early Latter-day Saints were...the butt of many clever stories. We, of course, are not free from that today.
Should we not then make one accommodation and set this doctrine aside?

Joseph Smith sought answer to the question “which of all the sects was right…and which…should [he] join?” (JS—H 1:18.)...
...In response to his humble prayer, the Father and the Son appeared to him. When he gained possession of himself so as to be able to speak, he asked “which of all the sects was right, that [he] might know which to join.” (JS—H 1:18.)
He recorded this:
“I was answered that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors were all corrupt...'
“He again forbade me to join with any of them.” (JS—H 1:19–20.)
That is very blunt language...
If ever he was tempted to disregard those words, they were repeated and sustained in subsequent revelations...

he's a kid....we have three boys all of whom completed college....he is in college and therefore a student....he has no worldly experiences worthy of discussing....I realize that other young men have chosen different and more difficult routes to follow.....However, he has been pampered most of his life and as far as I'm concerned.....big and tough as he is, he is an immature college kid and certainly not to be the subject of personal ridicule because one doesn't like his religion....

Hey, one silly anecdote about a Mormon’s good deed can certainly be refuted by three anecdotes about three pathological liars: Smith, the founder of the bloody religion, Romney, and what’s-his-face.
If you can’t handle it, try making a substantial point about what the LDS actually teaches, instead of defending a damnable heresy.

No, anyone who is a Christian who refuses to accept Catholicism is a Christian...a no FRILLS Christian...such as became born again as in the first century, were saved and started a PERSONAL relationship with Jesus Christ.
The church that Jesus started had/has NOTHING to do with the Catholic church---except that if a Catholic becomes born again and saved, he or she is in the church that Jesus started...the catholic (universal) church made up of EVERY true Christian.

if the facts are on your side, comment on the religion, not its members.....for example I think that people who follow the teachings of Martin Luther and his revolution against the true church are grossly misguided.....but I have a lot of Lutheran friends....and relatives!!

Must you distort everything, Apologist for the LDS that you are? If someone is going to say, “Look, here’s a devoted Mormon defending Jesus!!”, why can’t I reply that Joseph Smith was a lying polygamist, or Mitt Romney a deceptive political operator, or that dead girlfriends are made up? Is none of that true? I honestly couldn’t care less if you have a love affair for the pro-abortion Mitt Gimmick and therefore take offense at it. If you want to argue that good behavior by a member of the LDS absolves its False Prophets and teachings, I suppose, with such a pitiful argument to begin with, you should expect the obvious reply as mine.

I have lots of Catholic family members who, after mass, return home to practice witchcraft with no apparent realization of the contradiction. Another one, who is a great advocate for traditional Catholicism, is a whore-monger. Others are alcoholics who wear T-Shirts with photos of he Pope on it.
But they’re still my relatives. Can’t really get rid of them.

One time I took a university class in communications. They did this exercise where people thought they knew a certain fact; they were sure of it. Even after they were shown they were wrong, some of them continued to believe the lie rather than admit they had been wrong. It was very interesting.
