One time I took a university class in communications. They did this exercise where people thought they knew a certain fact; they were sure of it. Even after they were shown they were wrong, some of them continued to believe the lie rather than admit they had been wrong. It was very interesting.

Then there is hope for you yet. Just pay attention, several have broken free from the sorry chains that are the LDS even in these very pages because the “facts” they had be drilled on were nothing but smoke and mirrors. Of course it will be up to you to make that decision you mention, to continue the lie or admit being wrong and walk back into the light..
Worry not there is overwhelming evidence to support your efforts when you do. In the light the LDS "doctrine" and such collapses like a house of cards in a breeze...
