My parish Priest traveled to Italy Monday in hopes of being there when the new Pope was announced. He was so excited about the trip he was like a little kid on Christmas! Can’t wait to hear his stories at Mass next Sunday!

He seems almost shy, and very humble. I’m so happy.

I like the way he talks with his hands.
Asks for silence while he prays. the crowd is hushed.

Very different personality. I’m thrilled with his chosen name.

Agree.
And the gay marriage and women ordination advocates are deeply disappointed.

I had hoped they would go with somebody a little more youthful and vibrant Youthful is nice; experienced is better. The average length of the time in the Papacy is between 7-12 years. The men selected are usually pretty old and the regime of the Pope is a taxing one. John Paul II, who was pope over 25 years, had one of the longest tenures in office, and at 58 when elected, was one of the youngest popes ever elected.
