THE IDEA OF A POPE IS BASED ON A FALSE INTERPRETATION OF SCRIPTURE, THAT JESUS WANTED TO BUILD HIS CHURCH ON PETER, INSTEAD OF HIMSELF. WHY WOULD JESUS BUILD HIS CHURCH ON A SINFUL MAN?

I didn’t call you a liar. Care to make any other false accusations?

“1 Timothy 2

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for ALL PEOPLE— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior.”

The important word is the FOR right before the ALL PEOPLE. Secondly, if it was “TO all people,” you would suppose that we could pray to the dead in hell or people yet living.

“Catholics believe that a soul in Heaven is different than it was on earth.”

Since the same soul is regenerated on Earth, and merely awaits the body in heaven, I’m not sure at what point Omniscience or Omnipresence gets bestowed upon it.

Do not make this thread "about" individual Freepers. That is also a form of "making it personal."

Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.

I don’t have to look at my own posts. I know exactly what I said. I never called you a liar. What you expressed didn’t even make sense logically so I have every reason to doubt it. Having doubts about your claim, doesn’t mean you lied, nor does it mean I said you lied.

Go ahead and keep falsely claiming I called you something I never did.

Omniscience is not bestowed on souls as that is reserved for God. But we know souls are more holy in Heaven as they would have passed through purgation (if necessary) before entering into Heaven.

But is Omniscience required? I don’t think so. They are with God and He is Omniscient and Omnipotent so He can provide them with whatever information they need.

In Revelation 8,3-4 there is an example of Angels and Saints praying.

Also Jesus advocates intercessory prayer in Matthew 5:44.

In Catholicism, the “church” includes the living and the dead who have gone before us.

Since the prayers of a righteous man is efficacious, according to James, we ask all sorts of folks to pray for us: Jesus’ mom, our dead relatives, saints who we like, our next door neighbor, the beggers who come to our door.

It’s not logical but a human impulse to ask others to pray with us to god, and we figure the more who ask the more likely he will answer us.

The Centurian asked the Jewish leaders to ask Jesus to come to heal his servant, so there is a biblical precedent for asking for an intermediary to help us.
