'The Bible' miniseries produced by the History Channel is a disappointment for any family hoping for a new way to share the Bible's stories with their children. 'The Bible' miniseries, not altogether surprising given the History Channel's relentless ratings focus, sensationalizes the Bible's stories. Angel ninjas? Really?
The Bible, in addition to being the basis for various religious beliefs, is a fascinating historical conglomeration of stories that can teach us about the customs, times, travails, and conditions of the ancient Middle East that create a social context for modern day news, like the plague of locusts currently hitting Egypt. However "The Bible" miniseries on the History Channel so graphically depicts a predictably selective collection of the stories that some parents may not want kids to view it.
"The Bible" miniseries, for me, is less about what you believe and more about what you believe your family will take away from watching this series. After watching the first installment and trailers for upcoming episodes, I think that if youre not willing to let your elementary-school child watch "300" and the "Twilight" series you should steer clear of this as a family viewing session.

My son and I watched it. Just about fell out of my chair when an angel was depicted as a ninja. We both said....”What were they thinking?”
Glossed over the reason for the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.
JMO
I question their Christianity, their Science and who and what they choose to "monitor."
The angelic diversity squad was the last straw.
I too question them and as for not for kids, well I watched it last night and thought it was alright and will watch the rest of it.
As another freeper said, they glossed over Sodom which IMHO they should not have done.
Seems the CSM does not want young kids to watch a religious program of which my kids will,.
Hopefully the ratings are good and send a message to Hollywood plus was this an English program as many actors were English.

Really? Did you just assume and think he was a Ninja because the actor playing him was of Asian Descent?
He behaved more like a Roman Gladiator in his sword work and movements, but maybe you didn’t notice that.
Ninjas also carry Katanas, however this guy carried Roman style swords and used them as such.
But did you notice that the Lord had light brown hair? I would have preferred more of an Obiwan type angel using the force to repel the bad guys but I guess that they felt it necessary to have the violence. There is a lot of violence in the bible. I just thought that the timing and the editing was not very good. And I thought that the actor playing Moses was trying too hard to be Heston. Lots of flaws. I probably won’t watch the rest.
The angelic diversity squad was the last straw.
Really??? that is your complaint....
I was fine with it, because if you think about it God created EVERYONE!!!!!
So why not an Angel who looks like another race etc etc....
Complete balderdash and biblical illiteracy!
As another freeper said, they glossed over Sodom which IMHO they should not have done.
There were a lot of subtle clue in the sodom scenes, there was a fat guy in the back ground that was clearly a drag queen.
If they had gone full tilt, I imagine it would have been pulled off the history channel.

No, the writers must have thought that when they introduced that into the script.
What, you prefer chubby little cherubs?
Angels can be tough when they have to. That's a good thing, I think.
Didn’t you notice the message at the beginning as well that this was an “Adaptation” of the Bible, I mean I am pretty Sure Noah wasn’t a Scotsman....
Scotland didn’t even exist until after the Tower of Babel....
The Bible doesn’t read like a Sunday School coloring book.
Not bad, but will not watch any more. Just as Cecile D’s epic was essentially 50’s folks in ancient costumes speaking 50s jargon, last night’s presentation pretty much fast forwarded the people into 2013.
Excellent visuals, though.

Angels are supposed to be awe inspiring, loving, kind, and downright terrifying when they need to be.....
It is like looking at a fragment of the almighty himself, which is why that one guy was blinded by them.....

If they did a 100% accurate depiction of the Bible on Film, parts of it would have to be rated NC-17 for both Violence and Sex.
It was a similar inspirational experience to watching a modern day vampire movie. I don’t watch vampire movies.
I grimaced all the way up to the “Burning Bush” dying down and Moses then saying “With your(God’s) power *I* will set *my* people free”, then endured it till the end just to be somewhat aware of the series. I won’t be watching the rest.
