LANSING, MI, February 28, 2013, (LifeSiteNews.com) – A new study has found that gay and lesbian couples are less likely to be healthy than heterosexual couples, a finding that confirms traditional claims that homosexuality is an unhealthy lifestyle.
This study, published in the Journal of Health and Social Behavior, found the starkest of contrasts when it narrowed its focus to homosexual couples living together as contrasted with married heterosexual couples.
It found that same-sex cohabiting men were 61 percent more likely to report “poor or fair health” than an equitable number of men reporting from heterosexual marriages. Same-sex cohabitating women were 46 percent more likely to report the same when compared to heterosexual married women.
Indeed, black women in a lesbian relationship were likely to report being less healthy than single, divorced, and widowed black women.
These results held after controlling the socioeconomic status of the 1,659 same-sex couples reporting.
The study confired the mounting evidence gathered through decades of studies that homosexuals are living an unhealthy and risky lifestyle.
The only epidemiological study ever done on the subject shows gay men die an average of 20 years younger than straight men – and that homosexual men have the same life expectancy all men had in 1871. The findings, published in Canada's International Journal of Epidemiology in 1997, were confirmed by a 2005 American study conducted by Dr. Paul Cameron.
Studies have consistently found that homosexuals have higher levels of depression, suicide, and alcohol or substance abuse than heterosexuals. They also tend to make less money than their heterosexual counterparts, which may account for some health care discrepancies.

The professor who led the newest health-related research, Dr. Hui Liu of Michigan State University, chalked up the discrepancy to the fact that homosexuals cannot marry, as well as the burden of stress and discrimination.
Liu told the press, “If marriage can promote health, it is reasonable for us to expect that if same-sex couples had the advantage of legalized marriage, their health may be boosted."
Liu proceeded to suggest that filing joint tax returns may also boost health of same-sex couples, should they be permitted to “marry.”
The study did not specifically address how these assertions were supported from the data.
In the end, Liu’s study reinforced, rather than challenged, previous studies that found that homosexual behavior is hazardous to one’s health.
IF the left is concerned about our health they would push to regulate homosexuality as they do smoking and big gulps.
IF.
It doesn't matter what the law is, they will never be able to marry. Unless they choose to marry a person of the opposite sex, a right and ability everyone has.
When I was in graduate school, in the 90s, someone wrote a letter to the editor of the school newspaper arguing for the right to "marry" her lesbian girlfriend. Her argument was based on the fact that her family didn't consider her normal, and if she could "marry" her girlfriend, then her family would realize that she is just as normal as everyone else. The fact that she didn't mention love or a desire to spend her life with this other person was extremely telling.
True, one cannot judge anything from a single example. But I wonder how much of the push for gay "marriage" is really based on love and commitment?
This article is racist.
Indeed. I wonder why it is politically incorrect to even try to research treatments for sexually based mental illnesses, but researchers are busy trying to find causes and treatments for almost any other mental illness.
Recent research has revealed that homosexuality (at least in men) may be due to epigenetic imprinting. That means that the genes are normal, but that they are modified in such a way that they are not used correctly. That suggests to me that there may be a way to modify those genes back to the normal state. That also suggests that homosexuality is caused by environmental factors; if those could be identified, a lot of mental illness could be averted.
Minitrue will not be able to squash this story fast enough...
These researchers do not have integrity nor do they have guts. These same minds recommend the forcing of vaccines to kids that may or may not cause a disease in the case of STD’s. But, at the same time they stop short to make the assertion that something needs to be done about this behavior to stop the spread of active disease. They close their eyes to the fact that 2% of the our population that is gay and bi male, represent almost 70% of all new cases of HIV and Syphilis. Both, communicable diseases. Why are so many, both straight and homosexual so afraid of searching for a true reason and thus, a solution to this behavior. Maybe what causes the behavior, is really what causes the inferior health. Even if, which is extremely doubtful, it is genetic, do we stop searching for a cure for cancer, just because some people feel that Cancer is genetic? When you figure that of all HIV cases reported yearly, 45 percent involve those 13 to 29 years of age, you cannot help that this is lifestyle is driven by “persuasionist propaganda” and exploitation. Too many have become one part of the cause of the behavior and its destructive path.
It's been obvious for years that male homosexuality is a significant risk factor for many serious illnesses and markedly reduces life expectancy. But it would be politically incorrect in many circles to say it.
Yet Big Brother, in Obamacare for instance, won't allow insurance companies to charge higher medical insurance rates to gay men because they are statistically much more of a risk in terms of expected loss for the insurer. (Contrast that with smoking, which increases the expected loss for the insurance carrier, but quantitatively less than male homosexuality.) When it comes to formulation of government policy, actuarial science is neglected in favor of pandering to the gay community. Nonetheless, the left will tell you that they think out public policy in accordance with scientific knowledge, while the "neanderthal" right rejects scientific thought.
well yea... everyone knows changing your tax filing status will radically improve your health
/omg-head-slapping-sarcasm
wth is wrong with these people? yes, the lifestyle isn’t healthy. you’ve just shown it. yet it must be the lack of marriage certificate
seriously... they’re just brain damaged
Yet the culture is promoting active homosexuality, promiscuity, fornication, smoking weed, taking the pill and pumping women with hormones, abortion, piercings, tattoos, dangerous youtube stunts, etc...
The culture is skitsoid and of the devil.
I’d say none. It’s all based upon hatred of Christ and a desire to punish members of His church.
Truly self-confident folks who know what they’re doing is right don’t feel the need to legally punish those who disagree with them.
This may be a little deceptive - it was my understanding that homosexuals / lesbians tend to have more disposable income that heterosexuals, presumably because they rarely raise children.
I’ll be a-pinging tomorrow. Still sick. Probably flu, nothing else is this horrible.
Yep. Just chalk it up to those evil, white conservatives AGAIN. Notice how the left twists the ‘narrative’ to not only deflect attention from the evils of what they promote, but to blame others as well.
considering the entire lifestyle is anti-monogamy, and hardly any that can get married, do, i’d say the conclusion is totally refuted.
they are sick people mentally and physically, and spiritually.
it would be like doctors saying smokers have shorter lives and are sicker because only society stigmatizes and has all these rules banning smoking.
is dr. liu a lesbian, by any chance?
This woman is apparently not educated enough to know that correlation is not causation. Homosexual couples are not less healthy because they cannot marry. They are less healthy because their lifestyle is a less healthy way to live.
Homosexual couples less healthy than married heterosexuals, study finds
Yep
