[America’s Most and Least] Bible-Minded Cities

The report ranks the most and least “Bible-minded” cities by looking at how people in those cities view the Bible....

Regionally, the South still qualifies as the most Bible-minded. The top ranking cities, where at least half of the population qualifies as Bible-minded, are all Southern cities. This includes the media markets for Knoxville, TN (52% of the population are Bible-minded), Shreveport, LA (52%), Chattanooga, TN (52%), Birmingham, AL (50%), and Jackson, MS (50%). Other markets in the top 10 include Springfield, MO (49%), Charlotte, NC (48%), Lynchburg, VA (48%), Huntsville-Decatur, AL (48%), and Charleston, WV (47%).

The least Bible-oriented markets include a mix of regions, but tend to be from the New England area. Easily the lowest Bible-minded scores came from Providence, RI (9%) and Albany, NY (10%). To put this in perspective, the most Bible-minded markets are five times more likely to have residents who qualify as Bible-minded than is true in these two Northeastern cities.

Though these two cities are the most extreme, none of the cities in the bottom 10 break 20%, where even one in five people could be considered Bible-minded. The New England area is home to most of the markets in the bottom 10 Bible-minded cities, including Burlington, VT (16%), Portland, ME (16%), Hartford, CT (16%), Boston, MA (16%), Buffalo, NY (18%) and New York, NY (18%).

The remaining markets in the bottom 10 are primarily in the West and include San Francisco, CA (16%), Phoenix, AZ (17%), and Las Vegas, NV (18%). Cedar Rapids, IA (18%) being something of an outlier.

See where your city ranks. See all 96 cities here..

Now if only Knoxville could just get a Conservative daily news media outlet such as a newspaper or TV station. The market should be there as the consumer base is there. The daily paper is mostly left leaning with a Denver area Editor & Scripts owned. Usually the only positive Conservative news in the paper is posted in the comments to follow by readers after the articles.

Up here it seems conservative views are seldom allowed even in the comments.

Knoxville does have one Christian TV network mainly focused on music. Also there is a local station that does a show called “The Heartland Series”. It's basically a man going around the East Tennessee region talking to people and discussing legends, customs etc. One of the episodes is called “The Baptism” where a preacher is Baptizing in a local creek. He was my wife's preacher when we met and did our marriage ceremony later on. One of the persons standing in the group was my moms boss about 60 years ago.

I live in a rural area but two ordained ministers live within a quarter mile of me and about 7 churches within two miles of my home. One is my neighbor across the hollow LOL. Oddly enough both are also Conceal Carry Permit holders :>} Imagine that LOL.

We don’t see ourselves as God sees us. So the picture doesn’t show the REAL Daniel - our Pope! LOL!!! I think we all deserve a ride in your popemobile and then take us to your marbled palace for Ravioli and some wine. Or the way the catholics spell it - ‘whine’.

Since the catholics think you are a Pope, I nominate you the resident pope of FR! All threads must be approved by you first. And all newbies must go through you for special training and scrutinize ‘retreads’. The moderators could be your Archbishops. And punishment is at your discretion - whatever you feel like at the moment - always subject to change. Honestly, Daniel - you couldn’t pull it off! But there are a few catholics here where this would be a dream come true for them.

My paternal Grandfather died standing on a street corner in Oakland, handing out tracts, as he had done every day of his retired life.

He had founded the first six pentecostal churches in the East Bay Area in his younger days.

>> “thank the Catholic church...” <<

.
What absurdity!

The present scriptures were well established centuries before Constantine founded the abomination called the ‘catholic church.’

The Galatians had carried the Gospels to the northern reaches of the British isles in the mid first century, almost 300 years before there were any “catholics.” So had the Goths.

You know nothing of the history of the scriptures. You should spend a few years studying the work of Gail Riplinger.

You know nothing

Reading the mind of another Freeper is a form of "making it personal."

Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.

I wasn’t mind reading, just “post reading.”

Obviously what I post is an opinion just like everyone else, taken from reading posts.

And wait till i say giving indulgences (i honestly suspect some RCs think they get some for “defending” their faith here).

But in reality when it has come to the point that this former truck driver (even if i am short) is made out to be a kind of “pope” that some look to, then i think that the RC defense has become rather desperate. At least we can laugh and have fun with the absurdity .

you don't know a lot about history, do you..you say that the scriptures were well established...that's true, what is not true is that Constantine founded anything. The Galations were Catholics...there was no one else around. Catholics date from the beginning. They became known as Catholics a few decades after the death of Christ, they have been Catholics for two thousand, and thirteen years and have been called Catholic for about one thousand nine hundred and five of those years..

without the Catholic Church you would know NOTHING about scritpures or Christianity.

No, the Galatians were true christians, obeying Yeshua’s commandments to keep his sabbath and appointed times.

Catholics are Marians, and have no knowledge of the way of Yeshua. There have only been ‘catholics’ since Constantine abolished the way of Yeshua in Rome.

Ah yes, they use whatever absurity while hoping it will stop you from speaking Truth; i.e, intimidation, control, defamation.

They are slow learners because they fail each time.

Control the arguments.

We Conservatives simply MUST start buying back the channels of communication!
