protestants made their bed, they must now LIE in it...we can only pray that they will come to their senses and rejoin the true church Christ built on peter and his sucessors.

I agree with The Pope.

I will add that Catholics, Protestants, Evangelicals, Eastern Orthodox, Charismatics, Pentecostals, Baptists, and Non-Denominationals face one common enemy.

The same one the Jewish People face.

You KNOW who I’m talking about.

True, but what can be done now?

At best we act as distrustful cousins. We complain about each other, but stand with the family when it is time to cash in the chips.

Maybe you should take that to heart and stop posting deliberately divisive articles.

The Vatican just came out last week in support of Obama's gun efforts.

This may not be the right time for the Pope to call for unity.

The Catholic church has attempted to produce its version of unity by murder and torture of what it terms “heretics” and generations following have tried to justify and condone these acts thus becoming sharers in the sin.

Let the Pope put his own house in order and produce unity within the Catholic church according to Jesus’ criteria,

‘By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves’.

Pope: "One of the most serious sins that disfigures the face of the Church is its visible lack of unity, especially the historical divisions that have separated Christians and which have not yet been completely resolved."

Christ: “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

The issue isn't historical divisions, it is lack of obedience to Christ's command for all Christians to love one another.

Ah, the cult wars!

Division is the rule of life. Unity never endures the ravages of time. This is Christianity’s class / caste system, and something it failed to escape.

Like Ayn Rand observed prophetically, the individual is the smallest minority. This is why Protestantism’s “unity” and strength comes from a greater attention to the individual, compared to Catholicism’s greater focus on the “community”. No wonder Catholic-majority countries are largely socialistic. And the Catholic Church just yesterday announced support for Obama’s gun control stance. It’s all related, the stain of human-conceived religions just peeks out and shines through!

ONE

HOLY

CATHOLIC

APOSTOLIC

Everything else is darkness according to the First Letter of St. John.

Jesus Christ in His ministry on earth dealt with the very same jealousy seen today between Protest and and Catholic churches. The Disciple saw a sect whom they did not know using Jesus name casting out demons. They asked Jesus if they should make them stop? His reply was

39“Don’t stop him!” Jesus said. “No one who performs miracles in my name will soon be able to speak evil of me. 40Anyone who is not against us is for us. 41If anyone gives you even a cup of water because you belong to the Messiah, I assure you, that person will be rewarded.

The church has one name it is The Bride of Jesus Christ. The body is formed from many nations, tribes, and even different churches. The splitting off from The Roman Catholic Church in a disagreement is as natural as the split and division of Paul and Barnabas over John Mark. This disagreement would send both men filled with the Spirit to minister to different places. It was later reconciled. The Protestant Reformation has lead to believers splitting off and The Gospel reaching many more nations as indeed has happened. Neither as such is wrong and both will be reconciled in GOD's time not ours. Their works, their successes, and fruits, or these churches glorifing GOD.

Now within both Protestant and yes within Catholic sects their are some rogue sects who's works are not good fruits. They do one or more of the following, do not teach The Gospel, Do not follow the Commandments both of GOD & Christ, and some do not acknowledge the divinity of Jesus Christ {meaning they say He was a good man but not Savior}. They seek to destroy believers and The Word Of GOD. As such they are the pro-abortions groups, the anti-prayer groups, the pro gay marriage groups, etc which do indeed exist in both Protestant and Catholic churches. A few of such churches their main focus is protesting basic Christian rights.

The churches staying true to The Gospel but have differing dogma, charters, church rules, etc are not the ones we need to condemn the actions of.

I find it horrifically sad that a post on Christian unity devolves into name-calling and bickering within 25 posts.

Shame on you all who call yourselves Christ-followers and yet engage in this kind of behavior!

Shame on you all!

Luke 12:51 (Christ Himself speaking) Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:

It is more than a bit weird that this 'sin' of division here is flesh man proclaimed. The first Commandment given was Exodus 20:2 "I am the LORD thy God, Which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

3 Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.

Not one word about having no other church before man.

The ideological differences between Christians and the continued disunity of Christians is insignificant compared to the systematic cover-up and perpetuation of homosexual child abuse that has poisoned the Church.

The Church needs to recognize the importance of this breach of trust and expel all the participants.

Cardinal Law is still wearing a funny hat and robes in Vatican City - right?
