Yes, and G Larry is guilty of the same thing.
PS...what a noted yesterday was that they say the Israelites are guilty....yet reading through their own discriptors and thinking about modern Israel...
It is not the Jews being held in reference....God was very specific in using reference to Egypt. Islam and the beast that is and is not, the religion of peace that we cannot war against the evils.
Jews have not slaughtered the blood of saints...
Also note whose bodies will lie in the street of the great city. When these two are killed, the count down begins for the return of Christ.
Now just as an aside Ezekiel 16 is an interesting chapter about Jerusalem. Harlot is used throughout this chapter regarding Jerusalem and also it is the most favorite place in all the universe of the Heavenly Father. This chapter gives what could be called companion or background as to what John penned in Revelation.
I would recommend reading Ezekiel 16... this way one can know what the Heavenly Father says not what biases we in flesh bodies get fed.
"The classic interpretation of Revelation 17 as offered by the Protestant reformers and many since is that the harlot, the wicked woman who is the symbol of religious power in this chapter , is none other than the Roman Catholic Church in its **apostate** form."10
"While the reformers identified it with the Roman Catholic Church of their day, contemporary Protestant interpreters tend to qualify this identification. Rather than the Roman Catholic Church specifically, the religious entity that is portrayed seems to be a world religion which could conceivably embrace all branches of ChristianityRoman, Greek Orthodox, and Protestantas well as non-Christian religions."

Yes, read Ezekiel 16 but with an eye to what?
Israel here is portrayed as a wife who became a pagan temple prostitute.
or
An adultress wife.
Again, I do not see the Jews fitting this discription. But under an islamic viewing of the scripture...we’re back to islam.
Yikes... time to put popcorn in microwave.
“The infidelity of the harlot isnt sex, but trade (and presumably political entanglements).”
Adultery, in the prophetic sense is usually a metaphor for spiritual infidelity, such as when Israel’s idolatry was describing as “whoring after other gods” many times in the Old Testament. Though, it could be both what you describe, and idolatry, in the sense that people do “worship money” nowadays.
Ezekiel 16:2 "Son man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations. ...... God called sodomy an abomination.... The question of this thread was
Question: In the passages below a harlot symbolizes something. The title on her head is "MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH." One of the titles is "the mother of harlots". This suggests that there are other harlots that have sprung from this harlot.
Babylon means 'confusion', Ezekiel 16 tells why and the who caused/allowed the conditions that made Jerusalem... become spiritually speaking of Sodom and Egypt. And what God's judgment and actions He would send or allow because of His peoples harlotry... spiritually speaking adultery.
In this modern era there has been a push/shove, to celebrate diversity, when actually what has been encouraged is to embrace all cultures regardless if that culture is ungodly. Which was the history of the house of Jacob, after the civil war they became the House of Israel and the House of Judah. Remember in Revelation 1:16 Christ is described ....out of His mouth went a sharp twoedge sword; That means it prunes both those of the left and the right. Meaning there is a whole lot of housekeeping needed even on the 'right'. How many religions are represented in Jerusalem today?
Harumph! Harumph!
How dare you slander Catholicism in this manner? This is Free Republic, you know. I demand your reply be deleted at once.
Julius, Augustus, Tiberius, Caligula, Claudius, NERO, followed by Galba who reigned a short time during the "Year of Four Emperors."
Typically in prophetic language harlot’s or harlotry represents a false religion.
Answer: islam
IMHO
The wine in communion represents The blood of Jesus which would be the blood of the saints.
The mother of harlots evidently represents what has been called the mother church which is the mother of the protestant churches.
Many churches and churchmen have gotten filthy rich off of the blood of the saints by preaching the gospel, yes much of it was actually the gospel.
The ten kings that had no kingdom at that time is possibly the European nations.
The eighth beast came up out of the earth unlike the seven before him which came up out of the sea, the U.S came from a land that was not controlled by government.
17:2
With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.
Who have had more control in this earth than the mother church? read the history of the pope and the kings.

It wasn't until Christ was crucified that His disciples understood that this was what was written many times in scripture. Prophecy is just sooooo unclear and we can't connect all the dots until after it has been completed and we realize the truth after the fact.
Bears repeating. The sodom and egypt in Revelation refers to a great city that has suffered the transgressions.
Revelation 11:8 Their bodies will lie in the street of the great city, which is figuratively called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified.
It is an interesting passage on several counts. When God occupied the city it is the Holy City, but the verse clearly calls it the great city, yet in the same breath tells us it is where our Lord was crucified. So that means as long as Sodom and Egypt occupy the the city...it is no longer the Holy City.
Also yes Sodom is gone and it's sin is well known.
Interesting that Egypt is in the process of turning into an Islamic state.
Very fitting symbolically
The dome comment is very interesting also EBH
Interesting that this mosque is atop one of the most holy places of the old testamentRev 17:4 The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication.
The mosque on the temple mount is adorned with stained glass windows done in scarlet and purple, the dome is gold, etc.
You’re conflating Christianity with the anti-Christ now? After all, it’s Christianity that I said was almost dead in Europe; Catholicism is the surviving remnant of it.
Also, there’s the little problem of “Rome.” Luther would have known this if his entire career wasn’t one of slander, manipulation, and appeals to stolen power and wealth: Contrary to Luther’s descriptions of his travels to Rome, the Catholic Church isn’t headquartered in Rome. Rome may be a city on seven hills, but the Vatican is on an 8th hill, across the river from the seven hills of Rome, purposely outside of Rome because the Catholic Church has always seen its role in exile from the worldliness — and religious prosecution — of Rome.
So, perhaps, indeed “Rome” might be the beast, but in that case, it should be emphasized that such a beast would be an enemy of the Catholic Church.

>>These are nothing but your personal animus against Catholics couched as “experts agree with me”. Kind of like “when did you stop beating your wife?” questions by Leftist media types. <
I wonder how many of these “experts” know enough about Rome to know that the Vatican sits on none of the hills of Rome, but across the river Tiber, outside of the city of Rome, in exile, on a separate hill?
