I received a letter from The Social Security administration; they had made some kind of mistake in calculating the benefits due to my daughter and I. They had corrected the mistake, and had deposited over $1,800 into my checking account.

What a wonderful testimony!
I truly believe he helps are needs not our greeds. He helped all your needs as they arose. Do not sweat others politics of words.
Matthew 6:25-34
New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (NRSVCE)
Do Not Worry
25 Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink,[a] or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 And can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your span of life?[b] 28 And why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin, 29 yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these. 30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe youyou of little faith? 31 Therefore do not worry, saying, What will we eat? or What will we drink? or What will we wear? 32 For it is the Gentiles who strive for all these things; and indeed your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But strive first for the kingdom of God[c] and his[d] righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."
Philippians 4:6-7
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
Thanks!
Ah yes...the Social Security Admin. I guess there are some workers there who try to do a good job. However...when my wife passed from cancer in 2010, I dutifully reported the date. Two months later I get a call from the Hospice who helped me care for her in her last days. Seems that the drone who entered the date of my wife’s passing hit the wrong month. So her insurance was cancelled a month early and the Hospice was refused payment. And she had paid into SS all her life, retired at 62 and received her SS for 1 year before she died. They’re keeping the rest. Nice scam they got there. This is just the tip of the iceberg of crap I’ve had to deal with with these morons. Some days I can really identify with Job. But I don’t have anywhere near his faith.
Translating to English, I believe he said there was a reason grunts did grunt stuff (I was a grunt) and 'admih (admin) does 'admih (admin) stuff. He also said something about not coming back up there to bother his people.
They decided to take it all back a year later.....good times for a young married Corporal. When I tried to fight it, I was told "staying on top of pay issues is the individual Marine's responsibility."
All that to say I've had similar experiences. However, there have been multiple multiple times that I have wondered how I was going to make bills in a given month; prayed and prayed about it and then receive a refund check some bill I overpaid months prior.
I think you should thank the tax payers of this country as well.
I am a taxpayer. I still work.
“I just knew Id get flack from people on here. Instead of marveling at Gods blessings, there is dissension.”
Your error is giving God credit when you should be thanking the taxpayer.
If you’re correct, then God is smiting me more than just a little bit by making me pay for benefits like those you get.
If God “blessed” everyone the same as you nobody would get anything.
In the eyes of faith it certainly looks like God helped things along that is due to her. If nobody was stirred by God to give to help her family she would not have any money that was blessed. How ever you see it does not take away the eyes of Faith seeing the Blessings of God. We are all blessed whether it is store bought food from God's bounty of the earth that someone else cultivated or anything else God has given us for our needs.
Sadly, by some, I’m being depicted as a sloth who doesn’t work and doesn’t deserve these blessings.
Let me just tell you a little about my work history:
At age 14 and 15, during those two summers, my mom sent me to stay at her friends motel. My parents thought this would be a good idea because Id have use of the pool everyday and I could earn money. I worked every single day, yes, every day of those entire two very hot summers without a day off cleaning rooms, and working in a hot laundry room doing endless loads of sheets and towels.
When I got home, I started cleaning houses and doing yard work for people, again, this at ages 14, 15, and 16.
At 16, I got a job at a restaurant and worked as a busperson for about a year while going to school.
At 17, after graduating high school, I traveled via the Long Island Railroad to a full time job as a telemarketer. I also had another job post high school where I took the train, for a minimum wage job, no less. I also worked one summer as a camp counselor.
For two years, when I was 19 and 20, I drove a taxi. I either worked a shift of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m, or 4 a.m to 7 p.m. That’s 12 or 15 hour days. I worked six days a week.
After that, I also worked for an airport limo company, the only woman who was employed by the company, driving in and out of LaGuardia and Kennedy airports.
I took one year off of working when my daughter entered Kindergarten. Shame on me!
Additional jobs Ive held include working as a telephone operator for AT&T, driving a min-bus for summer camp kids, and working at various office jobs over the years.
I worked as a mattress salesperson and store manager for three years, from 1992 to 1995. I worked a temp job for Suffolk County Dept. of Welfare as a Home Energy Assistant Program Interviewer.
I moved to Pennsylvania because as a single mother, I could no longer afford to live in Long Island.
Recently, I worked at Sams Club as an Event Specialist and Health and Wellness Advisor. Prior to that I worked at a self-storage facility, was a caregiver to an elderly lady, and worked at a daily newspaper, and I also freelance wrote. At times I worked various temp jobs when I couldnt find anything steady.
Due to my illness, other than the year I took off when my daughter was in Kindergarten, I did not work for two or so years between 2003 and 2005. Other than that, I have worked my entire life, and paid into the system. There are many jobs I cant even remember, Ive had so many.
Bottom line, I have worked, and worked hard, my entire life. So, for those who think I dont deserve my disability, think again. By the way, since I was awarded disability, I HAVE STILL WORKED, part time.
I really dont need or want to hear the snide comments.
Thank you for your lovely reply. The arrogance of some on here is why I left FR for many years.
Wow, what a mean, nasty post. People only receive from SS if they have paid into it. There are a few exceptions, of course. And I know many people who have worked for years and really need the benefits they have paid into because they have disabilities that prevent them from holding a job and are getting denied.
You sound like a mean, stingy person. The OP is correct in thanking God. There may come a day when you are going to need benefits - and you won’t hesitate to apply for them either. So, I suggest you stop judging others because it may come back to you.
You don’t need to defend yourself as far as your work history. You paid into the system and rightfully deserve to have a return on that investment. Some on here are ignorant by not understanding that you have to have paid into SS in order to receive benefits from it, of course, there are a few exceptions.
Don’t allow the nastiness of some on here to discourage or shake you. Continue to thank God - because ultimately, it was He who provided this - whether some on here want to acknowledge it or not. He doesn’t drop things from heaven for us, but works through people to bless us. And, yes, those people can be the SS Administration, if He so chooses.
God does not work mysteries through government programs, unless you cant tell the difference.
Thank you for your nice reply. I should know by now, whatever I post, there will be some negative comments, no matter how great or inspiring the story might be.
And true, I had to have worked enough to get the benefits to receive SSD under my own record. If you don’t qualify, you would go under your parent’s record; whoever was the higher wage earner.
It just irks me that I have to keep hearing how I should “thank the taxpayers.” Duh! I still am one!!
That is our hopes to. we started the case right when the doctor said “you have to stop working. It’ll kill you and it won’t be long before your employer lets you go due to your issues anyways”.
The file is nice and thick now. So we hope it’s approved with out the visit.
Really? God works in whatever way He wants, even if it is a government program.
The thicker the file the better. I have no doubt she will be approved. Please let me know, I will keep you and your wife in my prayers. PM me if you want so I have your first names, at least.
A few? I can rattle off 5 people on my wifes side of the family that have never worked a day in their lives..
They are all collecting SSI.
Then, apparently, they qualified under the dictates. It really isn’t as easy to get those benefits as you think it is. I know people who need them and have serious health issues which does prevent them from working right now, and are being denied right and left.
So, are you aware of the disabilities these relatives have, or are you just throwing a blanket of judgment over them?
God does not work through government programs - He does not need evil to do good.
Those that cannot discern between God and government do not understand either.
*Sigh* no point wasting my time with you.
