First click here to watch a classic scene from the movie Brave Heart.
By Fr. John Hollowell: Brave Heart is obviously a classic. In the film, Robert the Bruce, the dashing young man from the video above, betrays William Wallace for money, lands, and titles. He regrets it after looking into Wallace’s eyes and seeing the wreckage that his decision has on his country.
I firmly believe that when Catholic hospitals are closing, when priests are being arrested for not marrying Adam and Steve, when our country starts aborting children with tax money, when the Catholic Church is completely turned on and the movement by secular atheists to annihilate the Church begins in full force, then the utterly horrendous, morally bankrupt nature of the voting practices of the cafeteria Catholics will finally be realized, and a lot of Catholics who voted for Obama will say the same thing Robert Bruce said above:
“Money, lands, titles, power..nothing…those pro-life Catholics fight for something that I’ve never had, and I took it from them when I betrayed them and I saw it in their faces on the battlefield, and it’s tearing me apart.”
Remember Jesus said that there would be the wheat and the tares. The wheat are those believers who are truly repentant who strive to live authentic Christian lives. The tares are those who are unrepentant, selfish and hypocritical, Christian in name only. The wheat goes into God’s barn and the tares get burned up in the furnace.
Good movie. Think the good father is more of a romantic than a realist
48% is less than half. When I said Liberation Theology and Social Gospel are to blame, I was talking about Catholics and Protestants (especially the mainline Protestants). People vote for the socialism because they’ve been taught that it is Christlike. After all, everyone wants to feed the poor, right? I think that many choose to ignore the abortion-on-demand side of socialism.
Let's look at Romney's "accomplishments" from Massachusetts ...
Ardent support for abortion? Check.
Gay "marriage" codified into law? Check.
Government-mandated health insurance? Check.
Government-mandated health insurance with legal mandate for birth control and abortion? Check.
Government-mandated health insurance with legal mandate for birth control and abortion, with no exemption for any who object on religious grounds? Check.
Now tell me again, folks -- including (especially) any Catholic religious figure who insists that Romney was someone worth supporting ... What exactly were we supposed to accomplish by electing Mitt Romney to the White House?
A noticeable percentage of them certainly will be but I'd wager the clothes on my back that a noticeable percent...probably a *very* noticeable percent...have a mother tongue other than English.*They're* the ones to whom I was referring.
Nope. They've already hardened their hearts and consequently have been given over to a reprobate mind.
Before long such folks will be making sure they're no longer identified as Catholics because claiming to be Catholic will no longer be acceptable to the fascist nobility.
Sure 48% is less than half, Catholics vote democrat which is how they have always voted, with a handful of recent exceptions, exceptions that all happened after Vatican II (unless 1956 is counted).
Voting 48% republican is one of the most republican voting results in Catholic history, it is a huge improvement over most elections.
They didn't have guns. That's the difference IMO.
No, and it is so sad. As a convert to the Catholic faith, I see modern Catholics believing more like protestants everyday. They don’t want to believe as the Church teaches — as what God wants — they believe only in what they want. Modern Catholics believe that God changes with time, and if He doesn’t, then in His Infinite Mercy, God won’t let them go to hell.
Most “Obama Catholics” are, in fact, non-practicing Catholics.
They are either/both apathetic/ignorant. The MSM guides them, not the Holy Spirit.
Catholics in many instances believe in “D” for Democrat over “C” for Catholic.

I am also a convert and so I believe in everything that the Church teaches.
And many times that is a huge difference between converts and cradle Catholics.
If you want to let illegal immigration blind you to homegrown stupidity, that’s your problem.
I don’t share it.
That makes three of us. I can’t believe how often cradle Catholics don’t realize what a gift they were given.
Then again, it makes a lot of sense because it’s human nature to undervalue what you didn’t have to work for. It also shows that while Satan doesn’t have to life a finger to keep non-Catholics constantly compromising with the society at large he works overtime distorting and subverting Church teaching to convince Catholics to go along with the society.
Christ is doing with His Church the same thing He did with Gideon. Winnowing down the size of the army so there won’t be any doubt about Christ being the reason we win.
Read my response carefully. In it I acknowledge the existence of home grown *and* foreign born parasites. From the comment noted above you seem to only acknowledge the existence of the home grown variety. And *I've* got a problem?
Now wait just a minute. Not all Catholic’s from these states voted for Obama. I certainly didn’t and I’m a Western New York Catholic. But, I certainly know a lot of Catholic’s who did. Totally breaks my heart.
Nope. They've already hardened their hearts and consequently have been given over to a reprobate mind.
Before long such folks will be making sure they're no longer identified as Catholics because claiming to be Catholic will no longer be acceptable to the fascist nobility.
The aging liberals in my parish have not spoken to me since the election (heh heh heh). Possibly because of my outspoken intentions at Mass the last two weekends, which also involved the high praise of Bishop Jenky (of Peoria) and the letter that he made his priests read the Sunday before the election.
The aging hippies and social justice Marxists are dying off or leaving.
Before long such folks will be making sure they're no longer identified as Catholics because claiming to be Catholic will no longer be acceptable to the fascist nobility.
I'm having such fun with the 60s crowd. I teach fifth grade religious education as well as supplement intermediate grade religious education. I engage in rough and tumble theology. I will make a point or read a Scripture passage and point to one of them them and say "go". They are expected to comment or enlarge upon or give their opinion on that point. And why.
After about three classes, there are no shy kids. Exactly all of them give as good as they get.
I will do my best to educate Catholics in the Faith that was handed down to us from Christ. I will blow raspberries at the liberals who have damn near destroyed the American Catholic Church. Screw you, you profaners of the Faith.
God will not be mocked; nor will He be thwarted. Not in the long run anyway...
That makes four of us.
Good post.
I agree
I've had a lot of people chat a little bit before or after Mass, but so far haven't been invited to any groups or had anyone do much more than be generally friendly. So, while everyone is friendly, I have no idea who are the stand up Catholics and who are the Cafeteria sort as of yet. I'm trying to figure out which of the Bible study groups I might be able to join and will no doubt figure out more at that point.
As for leftover hippies, it's a good thing I don't know who fits into that group. I've had more than enough run ins with such folks over other things.
I agree, God is not mocked. This country has been sliding further and further into paganism while at the same time the vast majority of the population claims to be Christian and I believe the Lord is going to make it clear what He thinks of those who talk the talk and don't walk the walk.
