Pope Benedict is Jewish, says Muslim expert

Muhammad Galaa Idris, who is the head Hebrew Studies Department at Tanta University in Egypt, has claimed that Pope Benedict XVI is either Jewish or has been “Judaized.” The Egyptian academic said this earlier this year in an interview with Al-Rahma TV, according to footage recorded and translated by MEMRI, the Middle East Media Research Institute. “The current pope Benedict IV or VII or whatever is even more Zionist then Herzl,” said Idris, adding “I follow his statements, and I’ve already said, that if that man is not a Jew then he has been Judaized, ” he concluded outrageously.

When asked by the host to provide examples of the pope’s Zionism, Idris said that “he recognized what the Nazis did to the Jews, the Jewish Holocaust,” and that, “all his statements are hostile to the Arabs and the Muslims.” Idris provided a reviewed of the "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion” - an anti-Semitic fiction widely recognized as a fraud perpetrated by the government of Czar Nicholas II yet widely cited ever since - for the same channel, portraying its false assertions as fact.

St. Peter was definitely Jewish. Whether St. Linus was, I don't know. The city of Volterra, Italy, claims him as a native son, but that seems unlikely (that's in an out-of-the-way part of Tuscany, so may not have had any Christians by the 60s of the first century...of course Linus could be a Volterran who had moved to Rome. A lot of the early popes have Greek-sounding names, which could mean they originated in the Greek-speaking population of Rome (which would include most of the Jews who were living in Rome, I suppose).

One of the Merovingian kings forcibly converted many of the Jews who were then living in what is now France. At other times in the Middle Ages some of the Jews of Europe converted to Christianity (either voluntarily or under compulsion) and anyone of European descent now could be descended from one of those Jews...so Benedict XVI could have Jewish ancestors, and the same could be true of John Paul II, John Paul I, Paul VI, etc.

Of course this Muslim "expert" is still an idiot.

Maybe Icelanders would be an exception if there were no Jews in Norway or the Western Isles of Scotland at the time that Iceland was first settled.

first off I am not of Spanish origin...but

like my ‘alias’....certain words were subject to anglo mispronunciation. Vaquero was Spanish for Cowboy...but the cowboys north of the borders mangled the pronunciation to “Buck-a-roo” similarly “hoosegow” is a mangled version of “juzgado” which means jail for courtroom.
