Received the following email from my Sister-in-Law:
Hello Everyone,
Just wanted to share some news about my sister Michelle. She has been diagnosed with Oral Cancer. About 10 days ago she had an ulcer removed from her lower lip and just received the results of the biopsy yesterday. The good news is that it has not spread to her lymph nodes and hopefully is localized.
She is now scheduled for additional surgery on October 16th the doctor needs to remove more of the surrounding tissue to make sure that all of it has been removed. The recovery period is 6 to 8 weeks. She will be consulting with an Oncologist at some point with the plan following surgery not sure if Chemo or Radiation or both will be in her future.
With Jim working at the National Cancer Institute ..he of course has already reached out to some top researchers in the field of this type of Cancer
it does have a high cure rate (as long as it does not get to the lymph nodes) so that it a good reason to be hopeful. Of course the location of the cancer will of course cause a disfigurement (to what extent we are not sure)- (but again hopeful that there will be some type of reconstruction surgery in her future).
Not that there is any good time for news like this but with her boys spread throughout the country..it is not easy.
Ian leaves for Basic Training on Oct 15th Travis is currently in Kansas in his 3rd week of Basic Training and Grayson has been stationed at Fort Hood Texas(with rumors that his Unit may be heading to Korea possibly in the Spring). Thankfully John is still at home and of course Sean.
I will be taking a few days off of work to help while she recovers. As you can imagine Michelle was upbeat and was re-assuring me that she would be fine. I am sure that her positive attitude will certainly help as she battles this illness.
Please keep her in your prayers and I will certainly keep everyone informed on her progress.
Thank You,
This family is in deep need of our prayers and I commend them to you.
Genuflectimus non ad principem sed ad Principem Pacis!
Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)
Love Janey
May the hem of Christ’s garment be in her hand now. Amen.
Standing the prayer watch for Michelle.
Prayers for a complete cure. I think that kind of cancer is eminently treatable, and I pray that it is so.
