Well, if you opt out, you cant attend a Church, any functions, receive sacraments. Youre cut off. That only applies to the churches that are Catholic, doesn't it? Won't Christian, non-Catholic churches still accept them?

They aren't excited with freeloaders either.

In case you missed the previous thread...PROTESTANTS also pay Church taxes in Germany.

well, other Churches also receive Church tax. It's mandatory as wideawake said in post 5 -- either the Church take the money this way, or it needs to get and share the tax details of its congregants.
It's not only Christian Churches which get this, but also Jews and I think Moslems too
