The Cardinal isn’t going to ‘bless’ the Democrat convention; he’s simply giving a prayer at the end of it, the same as he’s doing at the Republican convention. The difference is that the Democrats REFUSED the Cardinal’s offer at first, but finally came around when some folks started asking why the Cardinal was ‘favoring’ the Republicans.

For the Democrats, it will be a special Latin benediction just for them, called “De Exorcismis et Supplicationibus Quibusdam” benediction. In it he will give a final “vitandus” prayer, then ring a ceremonial bell, close an ornate copy of the Book of the Gospels, and extinguish a candle.

Hopefully, even if they don’t understand it, they will appreciate the pageantry of the ceremony.
