The marquee night of next week's Republican National Convention will feature testimonials from individuals who worked with Mitt Romney in his local church the most expansive discussion yet by the GOP hopeful's campaign of his Mormon faith.
A senior Romney official who briefed reporters Friday morning said that among the representatives of the church who will be featured Thursday would be someone who followed him as the leader of the faith community and who would talk "about what it was like to fill Gov. Romney's shoes."
Others will be those who Romney "helped in different times of their lives," Romney campaign strategist Russ Schriefer said.
It's part of an evening in which the campaign plans to tell Romney's story "in a very complete way." It also will include more than a dozen Olympians, including 1980 U.S. men's hockey gold medalist Mike Eruzione, who lit the torch at the 2002 Salt Lake Winter Games that Romney ran.
Not mentioned on the call as part of the Thursday proceedings was Romney's business record, a part of his resume the Obama campaign has zeroed in on during the summer.

ALL mainstream Christian denominations hold the position that Mormons "are not Christian". Ask any Catholic, Orthodox, or mainline protestant official that. Personally, I don't understand the argument that only "Evangelicals" deny Mormonism is Christianity. I have yet to meet ANY mainstream Christian denomination that says it acceptable for a "Christian" church to teach there are multiple Gods and that Jesus was a polygamist, etc.
>> the individual Mormon knows how he prays with a reference to Christ in every single prayer <<
If references to Jesus in prayers make one Christian, then I can show you plenty of Islamic and Hindu denominations that do exactly that. An Islamic filmmaker from Iran even made a movie about Jesus a few years ago called "The Messiah". Does this mean Muslims are Christians now?
>> when Evangelicals produce the argument that Mormons are not Christian <<
Well, I'm not "Evangelical" and I don't believe Mormons are Christian. It's the same everywhere. Last week, I was visiting another church fora Greek festivals, and Greek Orthodox Christians mentioned they think Mormonism is non-Christian, too. Let me know if you can locate ANY mainstraem Christian Church that believes Mormoms are "fellow Christians"
>> This argument strengthens the individual Mormons beliefs as the person who says that a Mormon is not a Christian has now lost all credibility. <<
How? Christianity has never meant someone who reveres Jesus. If it did, then 90% of the planet would be "Christian". Heck, Gandhi said he likes Jesus too and had a portrait of Jesus on his wall. Do I "lose all credentiblity" by mentioning that Gandhi was a Hindu and Hinduism is not Christian?
Many Mormons are very devout people who are model Americans, and I have no problem voting for someone who practices the Mormon faith. But although their religion is similar to Christianity and shares some common elements, it is no more "Christian" than Judaism is.
The most important thing is to get the capitol moved out of DC and rotate it amongst the states, limit the franchise, and impose term limits.
This change will have to come from outside DC, right now its a rigged game.
Means States will have to form confederations and send only reps to DC who intend to dismantle the Federal apparatus, not participate in it to enrich their individual selves via pensions and perks.
