I dont think, generally, Christians are being persecuted in this country. So said Barack Obama, during his first run for the White House.
The president wont be able to make that claim this time around. Not after the release this week of the Survey on Religious Hostility in America, jointly produced by Liberty Institute and the Family Research Council (the recent target of such religious hostility).
Liberty and FRC declare, Hostility to religious liberty has reached an all-time high, and the attacks are increasing at an unprecedented rate. Their well-researched survey documents more than 600 cases of bigotry against people of faith.
Among the more egregious examples:
The faithful Christian nurse ordered to assist a late-term abortion at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York or lose both her job and her nursing license.
The federal judge who threatened a high school valedictorian in Castroville, Texas with incarceration unless the young Christ follower removed references to Jesus in her graduation speech.
The institution of a new policy by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs secularizing funerals for vets at national cemeteries, with no references to God or the veterans faith, overriding the wishes of the vets family for a religious funeral.
The Christian couple that managed an apartment complex in Lake City, Florida that was fired by their supervisor for being too religious because they displayed a piece of artwork that had pictures of lilies and a quotation from the Book of Matthew, Consider the lilies of the field
The New Mexico Civil Rights Commissions finding that Christian-owned Elane Photography Company was guilty of sexual orientation discrimination because it refused to photograph same-sex weddings.
If these were but isolated cases, it would be hard for Liberty Institute and FRC to persuade much of the public that religious liberty is under assault throughout America. But their jointly-produced survey has provided example after example after example more than 600 in all.
One would have to be an atheist, or a recalcitrant Obama supporter, not to see the obvious pattern of hostility toward people of faith; Christians in particular.
Freedom of Religion devolving into Freedom of Worship can be likened to when Stars of David were painted on Jewish store fronts back in the not to distant past. It’s a first step in setting up a strawman.
I dont think, generally, Christians are being persecuted in this country.
........................................................
But with my Hope and Change agenda I will make sure they are before I leave the White House.
That’s one promise he is keeping.
The outcome of the November elections is still questionable at this time.
It just shows how few Christians in this country are concerned about their religious freedom that they would even consider voting for Obama.
I dont think, generally, Christians are being persecuted in this country.
That means WE ARE.
Does anyone hear actually think that the Sheep will give a damn about faith, when they’re getting EBT and American Idol?
As long as they have bread and circuses, and as long as they get free sh!t, they’ll keep the Left in power.
Thank you for posting this.
Christianity was an illicit religion throughout the Roman Empire from 64 - 312 AD, punishable by death. During this time the message of the early church was so compelling that pagans and secularists chose to be Christians, even at the risk of their own and their family’s lives. By the time of the Edict of Milan, Christians were a dominant force in the Empire, and may have been in the majority. How else to explain their new-found status as a preferred religion under Constantine?
Somehow, we have allowed America to lose her Christian heritage. But all things are possible through Christ. And we have already proven that a pure and dedicated church can prevail against paganism and secularism.
Obama’s right. Christians are not GENERALLY being persecuted in this country.
They are being specifically targeted and persecuted. And it starts at the top with him.

Republicans have nominated men for the top of their ticket who hail from the two most persecuted religions in America.
Once the conventions come and go, with the summer, then there will be greater interest in the election.
Overall it is going to be about the economy. The economy still decides the elections.
