Just because someone calls himself a Catholic does not necessarily mean that he speaks for the church.

Count some “Catholics” who call themselves that but are pro-gay marriage and pro-abortion (including supporting a mandate that forces Catholic organizations to pay for contraception ):

Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry, Joe Biden, Kathleen Sebelius, etc.

These people are only CINOs. Don't worry about them. In fact, pray for them to be converted to the truth.

• Ryan says his anti-deficit ideas are consistent with Catholic principles, right?

• A group of Catholics disagree with some of his ideas, and suggest praying for him.

• Meanwhile, Ryan's own bishop, Bp Robert Morlino, answers Ryan's critics by affirming that Ryan's good Catholic and his budget ideas are consistent with Catholic principles, right?

And your conclusion is, Here's another reason not to call yourself a Catholic?

“Another reason I don’t call myself a Catholic.”

I call myself a Catholic. This is NOT Catholic dogma.

In fact, I heard a bishop on EWTN Catholic Shortwave radio say he met with Paul Ryan, and Paul Ryan is trying to help out his country. I believe this bishop was the bishop in Paul Ryan’s diocese. Not all bishops, priests, et al agree on the same thing, unless it is dogma or an intrinsic evil. They are individuals.

Because individuals want to pray for something (even if it is misguided as in this case)? sheesh... These people don’t understand economics and why government should be smaller, but they are at least praying for what they think should be done, not organizing demonstrations. it’s a free country for even fools like this to pray for big government
