Ominous silence for Obama (Knights of Columbus convention shocker)
American Thinker ^ | August 8, 2012 | Rosslyn Smith

I often keep the Catholic network EWTN on in the background as I do housework. This afternoon featured live programming from the 130th Supreme Convention of the Catholic fraternal and charitable organization the Knights of Columbus from Anaheim, California. It's estimated that around 2,000 members of the Knights of Columbus will attend the convention.

The theme of this year's convention is Proclaim Liberty Throughout All the Land. At the opening session of the convention the Knights announced they had letters of greeting from leaders of several of the nations with large representations at the meeting. The first one read was from U.S. President Barack Obama. It was met with complete silence. By contrast letters from the leaders of Canada, Mexico and the Philippines were all applauded.

The silence that met Obama's greeting contrasted sharply with the multiple standing ovations Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson received during his annual report when he addressed the battles with the Obama administration's HHS mandate on abortifacients/sterilization/birth control and with militant atheists who seek to remove signs of religion from the public square...

The Knights’ publications have been giving this a lot of coverage. Clearly the convention attendees were paying attention.

Perhaps many of them were. Does that matter at this stage of the game?

I would doubt it. The “Catholics” who voted for Obama in 2008 tend to be those who identify themselves as Catholics but haven’t seen the inside of a Church since God was a boy. And that wouldn’t describe the K of C.

And, I still see tons of Obama bumper stickers in the parking lot when I go to Mass. :/

A month late and a dollar short. Obama has already publicly dumped white Catholics and says he does not need their votes.

We were called a Hate Group by people in the Obama administration. Don’t think we really know what he thinks about us.

Obama and his people probably assume that the Knights of Columbus are racist anti-Native American, because they support Christopher Columbus.

Because that’s just the sort of thing white people do.

A letter from Obama at a pro-freedom convention is like a pork chop walking into a kosher wedding.

The only Obama stickers that I've been seeing are old ones from 2008. I have yet to see an Obama 2012 sticker (and I'm in the south SF Bay Area).

The perfect place to place this Awesome ad by the Catholic Church. They mention no names, but we all know what is meant.

My 15-year-old wasn’t impressed, but I thought it was pretty good. A little too slow and long.

I think some folks have woken up. I haven’t seen an O bumper sticker in the parking lot after Mass since 2010.

What Japanese Admiral said something about awakening a sleeping giant? Obama might profit by looking him up and reflecting on how the remainder of his life went.

Dear Sir Napsalot,

“Were these same knights fooled in 2008?”

Many were. To my deep disappointment, many of my friends in the Knights, folks who normally vote for Republican presidential candidates, voted for the Kenyan anti-Christ in 2008. Folks were so angry with Bush, with the economy, the wars, and by extension, with Sen. McCain. I was shocked by the vituperation some of these folks held for President Bush and the Republicans.

This is why Sen. McCain got only 51% of church-going Catholics and why the anti-Christ actually won 54% overall of self-identified Catholics.

This time around, however, very few people that I know who voted for Satan's minion last time are voting for him this time. They're itching to vote out the filth and scum that have occupied the White House since 2009.

I noticed this at my own state Knight's of Columbus convention back in May. The word “Obama” was uttered only with contempt. No one at all dared defend the anti-Christ.

I expect that the swing in the overall self-identified Catholic vote this year will be on the order of 8% - 10%. In other words, I'm expecting about 55% of self-identified Catholics to vote for Gov. Romney.

That will represent a swing of about 2.5 - 3 million votes in each direction away from the anti-Christ, or about a total swing of 5 - 6 million votes.

What may complicate this is if the anti-Christ capitulates on the HHS mandate and related issues before the election.

Not at my church. They all came off when Obama started his war on life.

Not a one do I see.

Please evangelize — talk with these people — about anything. If it gets around to politics, great. If not, you are on the way to making a new friend.
