(Uh....
You didn’t just make this up as you went; did you??)
No dear...
Theres lots of documentation..
I have all my generational proofs .. :)
There is a statue to Jesse de Forest anD the Walloons in Battery Park, NYC
It was put there for the Tricentennial (300 years)
There is also a statue to him in his birthplace, Avesnes in the province of Hainaut, France and a Jesse de Forest University..
Jesse just happened to to have been my ancestor...my 9th great grandfather..
Jesse,
Isaac who had a tavern in NYC and made Red Lion beer
Phillip who moved to Beverwyck and started the De Forests of Albany
Abraham
Simon who was killed by rebels near the Mohawk River during “the troubles”,
Hannah who was imprisoned by the rebels at age 10 and who later married Stephen Secord, Loyalist, descendant of Huguenots,
William Edwin Secord, War of 1812 veteran,
Guy Stephen Secord who went to New Zealand and married Martha Dunford who was 8 when she arrived on one of the First Four Ships, the New Zealand equivilant of the Mayflower...
Guy and Martha were my gg grandparents..
