Prayers for a lost pet
Wow.
I thought I was done crying for a while.
Still praying for a happy outcome of Alice’s big adventure.
I’m sad that you’re feeling so poorly and beat down. It is very tiring to search and search without finding someone who is lost.
And days and days of unrelenting upset and grief are wearing as well.
May I suggest that you take it easy for a day? Whatever it is that you do to relax should clear your mind. Perhaps if you aren’t so stressed, Alice will realize that there is no danger and come out of his hiding hole.
Please Lord, hear our humble prayers.
Unfortunately, no, that is not the snake we saw. We did have another run-in with a snake yesterday. Our beagle and his amigo, a bassedore (half basset, half yellow lab), have a very distinctive ‘snake bark’. Hubbby and I rushed over and sure enough, there was a snake coiled up, ready to strike that both dogs had cornered. It was a rat snake or a chicken snake and is usually harmless unless provoked so we got the dogs in the house with MIL and the snake went along his merry way.
I did find a pic, don’t know how to post, that you might be interested in. It is a black snake that looks to be about 9-10 feet. MIL and I were on the porch one day and this HUGE branch came crashing down from way up off an old oak tree right in front of us. We stood up and were talking about how glad no one was under it. Suddenly, the branch jerked and started slithering slowly away. It was a snake, not a branch. He went back up the tree verrrrrry slowly and I got some pictures. He is breathtakingly gorgeous.
Oh, Salamander, I’m so sad for you guys. I think “The Old Lady” has some sound advice about trying to de-stress as much as you can today. Not only will it be good for you, but maybe Alice will somehow sense the “cleared atmosphere” and “concertina” himself onto the nearest lap. If you hear “Lady of Spain” getting louder and louder, that’ll be Alice coming.
Many prayers going up for y’all and Alice today... part of my routine, now.
Oh, that’s sweet! :-)
Know that many, many people are pulling for you and Alice. I hope those are *tears* of being touched by all those who wish you well and your nightmare to be over, and to be reunited with with that rascal *runaway.*
Much love,
Daffy
I went out for half-n-half for my morning coffee...and guess what I saw? I'm glad someone is getting publicity out for finding this rascally runaway.
I'm tempted to show up on Salamander's doorstep with a crowbar...and take apart her whole house, stem to stern.
Odin needs his Mommy today ... Be with him, walk him, run him through some training exercises...
We’re still praying, as you can see.
:(
I’m checking in and still praying.
Oh man, darn snake! I know what that’s like, darn cat will hide away and contently sleep away while I’m having a panic attack looking for her. Box spring mattress or inside the back of any sofa? Under cupboards? There is a gap on the bottom of them that I could see a snake finding his way into...
Maybe if you just sing, Alice will recognize your voice vibrations and come out. - Also, cast all your cares upon the Lord, for He careth for you and get some rest.
Awww. I hope you find your snake alive, happy and healthy.
Prayers lifted
Still praying really wholeheartedly for your swift recovery of Alice, and may he be healthy and well fed when you find him. Prayers for you and L. too.
Some of them are.
I’m feeling really unworthy of all this, really.
I am gobsmacked by the outpouring of love and concern.
On the upside, hubby didn’t murder me after I ripped all the drywall off the log wall on the steps going upstairs.
I took Peggy out of her house and she, being about Alice’s size and general disposition, used her for an experiment.
I set her on the bottom step and watched what she did.
It was slow going and she wasn’t especially happy to be moving away from me but she did indeed climb those steps.
She seemed to be drawn to the hole in the drywall halfway up.
So I put her away and took the flashlight and peered in to see where it went.
There’s no easy up/down place for him to have gone but there was a nice horizontal tunnel that ended where the floor of the upstairs and the ceiling of the downstairs meet, creating several hundred square feet of crawlspace between the two, possibly limited by the fact that 2 x 4s are also up there 16” apart so he may just be in a relatively small area.
I have a snake tub with heat, water, one of his snake “caves” and a tasty mouse screwed to the wall in hopes that the air flow will let the odors and warmth somehow permeate the space between floor/ceiling.
Little does hubby know I’m sorely tempted to rip out the drywall of the ceilings.
It’d be messy but when it was done, I’d have my cool whitewashed pine board/beam ceiling back...and maybe my snake, too.
I have no idea if that’s where is or whether it will work but at least I’m *doing something* other than what hasn’t worked so far.
I saw this on my iPhone while on the way into town.
Started laughing *and* crying and hubby asked if I wanted him to take to me to the hospital *now*.
[I suspect doing both at once might be a sign of impending insanity]
Then I saw the “outfit” comment and really started giggle-sobbing.
[he’s probably contacted lawyers to see if he has the legal power to commit me, by now]
I already have a crowbar and sledgehammer handy, if you wanna come by...:)
