At my last confession, I expressed frustration that I keep committing the same sins over and over again. The wise priest said something I have never been told before. He said, “What the evil one wants is for us to give up.” The Lord knows we are weak and will continually fail. But He is ever willing to forgive us for our sins, if only we ask forgiveness. We just can’t give up. Jesus would have even forgiven Judas, if only he would have asked.

Under the heading of "Hope", I saw:

7- Am I confident that, with God’s grace, I will be saved?

Out of ALL the other nitty-gritties of being the "perfect" Catholic, why does this one seem to be the point MOST deny is even possible, much less desired?
